If given the opportunity to have immortality as in endless life, would you take it?

What would you do?

Would it be worth it?

If you choose not...is there something you would choose given the opportunity? What would it be?

As ever...curious.

Succinct. But I edited to add another question cause of you!!

Bitch.

OK, I don't understand the question. Is there anything I would do IF innortal? I'd sit outside Summery's door and not leave until she told me secrets. She'd have to, since I could be there forever.

Or I'd go be a one man wrecking crew in the middle east.

Nah, the Summery one.

sure... then i'll be able to to experienced life to the fullest...
even if everything could get bored at the end... but that might be after 500 yrs have gone by...

But wouldn't you miss friends and family you have right now?

I hear that quite often when this discussion comes up with some of my friends.

One would be able to make new friends though as time passes...

when i think of immortality... i think vampires... and in most *legends* vampires don't desire sex... who would want that? is that trade off worth it?

I would.

I'd do things for my neighbors and family.

I'd set up some philanthropies. (anonymously)

Interesting. In most of stories/myths/legends I've read, drinking blood was an ecstasy of sorts for vampires...maybe that satiated the need for sex?

I would think that if I were to remain immortal at this point in my life...this specific age...there would be no way possible that a desire for sex would not exist...no way possible. So I'm thinking I might like this idea more and more.

I'm not sure if it's like the satisfaction of sex... it really depends on the legend, there are so many...

Personaly, i would never give up sex, even for immortality, but if i could have both? hell yes... were do i sign up?

Yes I would. I love life too much. There is so much to do and learn, to taste feel, smell. I think it would be worth it.

I'd never make you sit outside my door. I would definitely invite you in. And, if your real bad... I'd send you to my room.

Nope, seeing the loved ones dying each time they come at the end of their lives again and again forever.

Good book, too, btw.

A fascinating question. I just have no definitive answer as I don't need to. I see opportunities and losses in chosing and not. The possibility of things to do with immortality seem as infinite as the time. Worth is relative. Or is that subjective. I am also confused by the questions asked about not chosing immortality. What kind of something? Another ponderable all together or a variation on the original question?

I am attracted to the idea that immortality exists in many ...things. Like how people say they carry someone in there heart when they have passed on, and how storytelling keeps history, people, places alive etc. The book I mentioned plays with the idea of the immortality of gestures. I think it is a question humans are obsessed with. Understandably so.

This one I have thought over for quite some time.

I honestly believe that I am immortal. Of course, the drawback is this shell I exist in will die, but the real me will move on to the next level.

If you are wanting the answer to be about bieng in the human form...then it would be interesting to say the least. I mean...at some point you would know you were immortal so you would have reactions to this knowledge that would be difficult for you for a bit. Seeing loved ones dies etc.. But in the long run, your knowledge base would become so huge. An interesting concept that bears much thought.

Considering that the pain is everlasting for everyone I've ever met that has survived their own children, I'm not sure immortality is for most people.

It might be great to try to advance human kind by imparting your wisdom, but then there would be the risk of being either feared & hunted, or of developing a cult following.

Maybe it would be interesting to see what you could discover as a scientist with endless time.

Or if you could single-handedly restore the Sahara to grassland given endless time.

Some other great possibility...as in a supernatural powers or something of that nature, wealth, beauty, etc.

I agree with everything you stated here. It is something that I've had discussions about numerous times. I will have to look into that book.

I'm not aware of any other way to maintain mere mortality indefinitely...Satan has an exclusive on Mortal Coil Extensions, yes?

Not sure...I don't believe in Satan...I do, however, believe some have abilities to take over souls...to claim another's soul.

Do you believe it is possible to claim another's soul?
