Just emailing with an author about the Loving Wives category. So why not one: Slut Wives and a second category: Hot Couples? Just a thought by him but I liked it.

I haven't written anything in that category myself, so the question hasn't occurred to me before.

When such things have been suggested in the past, though, I've noticed that Laurel has paid attention. If you make a good case, she might listen. :)

I don't know if I can make a good case. Many of the stories in that category are simply "slut wife" stories I guess. I know really know what the alternative is, but I don't think it's Erotic Couplings. So, Hot Couples, which actually another writer came up with to split the category. Not sure what would go in there. Maybe something along the lines of what's there now but closer to Group. Maybe swapping type stories or maybe just husband/wife or male/female couples. Most of them seem to be about wife saving her husband's job by doing his boss or taking care of her husband's friends at a poker game or while watching a sports event on television while the husband watches. Maybe it's not a great idea after all. It seemed like it when I read it. I should give that author's name and let him make his own case...LOL

no matter how hard i try i will never get used to that word *sigh*

i wonder how many readers would feel the same...?

The trouble is that once you start, there is no end to the possible divisions.

Loving Wives
Slut Wives
Hot Wives

Then on to:

Slut-Hot Wives
Hot- Wife Sluts: which could be male
Hot-Loving Slut-Wives: as opposed to Frigid Slut Wives :(

Then you factor in the various combinations of gender: mf, ff, mm, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmf, etc.

Soon, we could have several thousand two-story categories.

Then when you start with the weight divisions (e.g. welterweight) things just go all wahoonie shaped.
Helpfully,
MG

I'm always been pissed at that category. I mean, look at the description! "These women know how to please their men."

I demand we get a Loving Husbands category, stating "These men know how to please their women!"
I expect to see a lot of stories about men picking up their dirty clothes, screwing the hat back onto the toothpaste tube, and going down on their wives!

Just don’t let us see any stories about men picking up their dirty wives ;) , screwing their hat :( , and going down the tubes in nothing but their toothpaste smiles!

That would make us go all wahoonie shaped.

The ironic thing about the Loving Wives category is the amount of cheating that is going on. Someone in a position of authority around here might want to offer a new category called Cheating Wives, becasue judging by the offerings in the former category, wifey stepping out on hubby is a big fetish with many people.

Assuming you mean "slut", I use it for both genders, which reminds me of a song;

The 'greeter' in Asda (Walmart to you, don't know about flicka) with accompaniment:

Come and get your black bin bags
Whatever your gender
Heavy duty black bin bags
Whether bi or straight or bender

Or visit the Peter Kay site. May be a bit too British for some.

Okay, if you don't like 'slut wives' and 'hot couples' how 'bout either 'cheating wives' as someone suggested or get rid of 'wife' altogether and make it Loving Couples-not that's there is a whole bunch of love in the category.

lol

We have K-Mart over here, not Walmart but I'm assuming it's the same kind of place.

Now I just know I'm not going to be able to go there without remembering this ditty. Thanks Gauche! ;)

I agree completely Bearlee... I think there are distinctly two types of stories in the Loving Wives category. Personally, I think that the solution isn't dividing the section, but simply taking all of the "Loving Couples" out and putting them into the Group Sex. It's still group sex even if you have a wife and husband involved, no?

That would leave all of the "Slut Wife" stories where they are, since they are the majority and fit the silly description of the section better than the group stuff.

Sweety: I think I know what you mean, but I also think the culture is changing. When I was a young girl you definitely didn't want to be called a slut; plus it took very little to acquire the label. The nuns in my school called us sluts if we smoked!

Now I hear young girls calling each other sluts, no differently than saying, "hey girlfriend' or 'you go girl'. I hear, "Later, slut" when they part at a bus stop. It's taking back the language for one's self; not unlike blacks using nigger affectionately or with humor among themselves because they own the word now (vs. a couple decades ago).

Cunt is another previously derogatory term that women use among themselves. "You cunt," I say to a friend easily. Bitch too.

Perhaps it's only in the states?

Perdita

It's not just the states, I hear it over here, too. Teenage girls call each other "whore" instead of "girlfriend". "Yo, whore, what time is it?"

I don't know if it's a sad sign that girls are oppressing themselves, or if it's a good sign that they are robbing the derogatory words of their meaning, so that these can't be used as insults anymore.

Me and my best friend use "bitch" as a positive word. "You're such a bitch!" is something I say to her when she has snapped at some rude guy at work.

I've seen it only as positive thing, Flicka. It makes the original derogatory meaning empty. If girls can call each other whore then what is a whore? It's been too long that women are only whore or virgin; now it doesn't matter and the men are all confused. I like that; keep 'em guessing.

slut-in-training, Perdita

Ditto! I do my best to avoid being labelled. I switch between being Innocent Virgin, Faithful Wife, Slutty PlayGirl, Faithful Girlfriend... Just when people think they know me - I surprise them!

And I get your point. My cousin did something similar when my other cousin moved here from Brazil and stayed with my cousin and her family until he found a place of his own. They called him "blackhead", which is a literal translation of a very derogatory word in Swedish. They figured that by letting him get used to this word from loving relatives, he wouldn't be hurt if a stranger called him the same thing.

Ofcourse, it might have worked even better if he hadn't been as blond as I am...

This may be true, to a point, but not entirely so. Truth is, we need more catergories, especially given the number of stories this place has archived. It takes about a week or so for a story freshly submitted to fall off the New Stories list, then they fall into oblivion, sinking in an ocean of other stories in the same category as it. Many good stories are lost that way, mostly because the sink into a sea of bad ones, and no one, including me, wants to wade through them all to find just that one.

I hardly read "Loving wives" at all, mostly because the cheating wife is so abundant there. I'd say a "Cheating Wives" category is well beyond in order, but over-due. So long as we keep the "loving" and "Cheating" wives separate.

I mean, isn't the point of having all these categories, not to mention the ratings offered (meaning the "E" and the "H" ratings next to the stories) to give us the basic idea of what we're about to read?

I caught my daughter (in a discussion with a friend) calling an acquaintance a slut recently. I have to say I was shocked... though apparently the acquaintance actually is a slut. Still it doesn't make the word sound any nicer.

I don't know if it will evolve here into such a free and easy meaningless phrase as it has in the USA, but after all, it is just a word.

bearlee sorry for interrupting your thread.

That's 100% mark-up, Gauche

I'm not at all pleased that I remember this but,

There is no such thing as 100% mark-up. Mark-up is expressed as a fraction (%) of the selling price, ie profit.

Gauche

Edited to include smiley

Dear Gauchie,
It's a moot point, though, because it weren't 100% in the first place.
