I'm off

...another one that might in your price range is the Mitusbishi Galant, the wife used to have one, it's the only one of her cars that I have missed. For a four cylinder it had a lot of power and was just plain fun to drive...they have a V6 model as well, but I haven't driven one of those...

Good dea for you Danielle,

Last year I decided I just had to replace our tank. (1988 Dodge Caravan with 210K miles on it. I picked it up used for $1500.00 with 50K on the clock years before.) It was getting to the point where I was worried about even driving around town. I had a rough idea of what I wanted in a car and the amount I was willing to spend.

I looked around and did some research. One morning my wife and I were driving around town doing some shopping when she suggested we pull into a dealership. We pulled in and started looking at cars and their price tags. One of the salesmen came out and started chatting with us then showing us cars. One of the cars he showed us was a 2003 Chevy Tracker with a 4 cyl. Engine. It was in good shape and drove nice, but I wasn't sure this was what we wanted. We left and when we got home I started doing some research.

The next day we went back and looked at the car again. The same salesman was there and seeing us looking at the car he decided we were needy and started with the hard sale. Oops! He irritated me so I started firing back, hard. He had to go to his manager several times. By the time my wife and I left that day we had a signed contract in our hands.

We had talked them down to $2000.00 below the Blue Book Price. They accepted our van for trade at a price of $1500.00. We also had the extended warranty and an agreement that they would replace the grill, fix the headlight mounts as well as replace the headlights themselves with the high intensity lights. (More importantly replace the lenses with lenses that would withstand the higher heat of the high intensity bulbs.) Install Fog Lamps, re-allign the wheels, and replace the cheap after market trailer hitch with a Chevy Hitch designed for the vehicle.

In the past year my wife and I have put roughly 10K miles on the vehicle. Changed the oil five times. (I prefer to change it every 2k miles instead of the 3K that is recomended.) The only problem I have had with it is the battery died a couple of weeks ago. Chevy paid to have it replaced. (I have replaced the windshield wipers but that is because I prefer the triple edge, double blade Euro System to what came with the car. Oh and I put wind guards around the windows.)
