I tried to record something the other day, and my mic wasn't working. It sounded like it was working, but when I went to play back what I had recorded, there was nothing there. I tried it on two different sound recording programs.

Help me, please? Someone? Anyone?

I had a feeling you would post here. You are of no fucking help, and it's really annoying when I ask for some and I see your goddamn post here.

Lilminx, don't know if this will help but you could try going to...

Start...
Programs...
Accessories...
Entertainment...
Sound Recorder...

At least on Windows. You can record something, and see if it plays back. If it doesn't you might try going to the Search For Help function on your PC. Ummm... that's all I got.

GL on that though.

Wipe off the pussy juice first...

Sorry, I don't have a mic and can't offer anything legitimate this time.

But I CAN send you a picture of Chilled Vodka if it'll make you feel better...

Lol- thanks for the suggestions. I figured it out after Shamless Flirt talked to me a little. It turns out that I'm just a spaz. :) It's working now.

Send me the pic, Storm!

Not at all, Storm. :)

Euminides, why isn't it working? Do you need help?

Yes, please. Everything says it's on, and the sound comes out my speakers, but I can't record a darned thing.

but IS CV Yayati? ANd I've already seen that pic.

Eu, go into your control panel. Click on "multimedia", then click on the icon next to "Recording- preferred device". Look at the little boxes next to each volume control, and then you have to make sure that "mic input balance" is clicked.

At least, that's what I had to do for my comp- I have Windows 98 SE. Try it and see if it works.

You mean it worked? Woohoo! I actually helped someone with their computer? Everyone look out your window- you'll see pigs flying!

I get a prize? I want Storm to come visit me.

No prize for you...Now the ONLY sound I have is my microphone sound.

No "You've got Mail"

No "click"

No nothin'.

:(

And now the sound is mysteriously working. I don't get computers AT ALL.

So I guess you get a prize anyway. :D

I thought magic was for hair removal????
It can also be used for computer problems, basting chickens, and it can be used as a laxative. Magic is magic!

Storm, how do you know that CV is Yoyo?

CV slipped a monthe back during a typical thread of rapid yoyo posting and posted as CV, and he also admitted it. The old "forgot how many windows I had up" syndrome. I wasn't here much at the time, but the proverbial cat is outta the bag. the majority of folks here will confirm this.

CV also pm'd me a long time ago when he was around 100 posts that he was other identities, but I paid no attention to it at the time. He thought I was Starfish in that pm even. Maybe it's that yayati is CV... Axis II people like that are soo bizarre.

Or DCL's post on page 3 of the other thread - which is quite funny, too.

In Start/Accessories you should find an entry for "Mixer Controls" which will allow you to select the recording sources and control the volume of different audio files to your speakers individually.

Ther are separate sections for record inputs and volume levels and "monitor" (speaker) levels for each sound type -- WAV, MIDI, CD, Mic, and "Line In," as well as a "master" volume control for recording and for the speakers.

If the proper drivers are installed for your sound card, then the "Mixer" is what controls what sounds go where and how loud they are.

(I know that both you and lilminx have solved your problems, but I added this for others who may ned the info.)
