Well, I've withdrawn from debates when it was obvious it was just going to turn into a pissing match with someone who had a much bigger bladder than mine. I still don't feel good about backing down on those occasions.

Goes to lurk in the GB now and then, just to see what happens. But how the heck would I ever survive there? I'm not talking about the clientele, I'm pretty good at handling dumbass dickheads. But the tempo in there, my god! I can't even keep up with he threads in the AH most of the time, how would I ever manage that...

I rarely leave AH. I don't even try to keep up with all the threads here. I'd never get anything else done.

I go there once in a while but most of the threads are even dumber than the ones here (and we do have some really dumb ones here, and I have contributed to them enthusiastically) I think most of the people don't do anything but post, no writing and, maybe, no jobs either. I spend a lot of time online but not that much.:eek:
 
Kelly, you can't successfully argue with idiots. They don't know they are idiots. They aren't capable of seeing the brilliant point you are making, therefore they assume that you are as incoherent as they truly are. The strangest thing about idiots is that they seem to think that they are smart. Just laugh and ignore them.

I love to argue, but with non-idiots only. LOL. Even if you don't agree with someone, you can learn from them if they have an intelligent argument.

I don't go in the GB part very much--I feel lost there and more at home in the AH. What interaction I did have with the folks there was fairly positive, but then I didn't discuss politics. I wrote a little essay about the loss of Zoey. Who's going to fight with you when you're in mourning?

It wasn't so much about who was right or wrong. Not at first anyway. He started attacking and putting down anyone with a different opinion than his and I went back at him and that's how it started. After the first couple posts it had nothing to do with his opinion and everything to do with him being ignorant. Give me an opinion in a decent voice and a tiny bit of intelligence and I have no problem, whether I agree or not.

I dunno where it's at. It's been about a week so it's buried deep on the GB somewhere. I haven't been back to it since then so I don't know where things went after I left. I know I got kinda nasty with him. Maybe I went too far but he ticked me off. I do remember that the whole thing started on a different thread and moved to the other. He pissed me off about one thing and then I saw the other and jumped in when I probably should have left well enough alone. I can admit when I'm wrong but I don't believe I was. Nasty maybe but he had it coming.

Yep, that's the one. He originally pissed me off in a different thread about something, I don't remember what and it carried over into this one. If you ever run across his posts, he is very combative. My guess would be that he has a small penis. LOL :)
 
Another board I hang out at has an unwritten rule: DNFTT. Do Not Feed The Trolls. And since it's a political board, it attracts more than it's fair share of trolls

The biggest problem is that there is no way to determine the trolls from intelligent posters until they open their mouths. And sometimes they are sneaky. They can hide as non-trolls for a short time, and then slowly increase their "frothing" level until their trollish nature becomes know to all.

However, all trolls require interaction. If you don't feed them they quickly become bored and go away.

And as regards intelligence, it is my observation that there seems to a direct inverse relationship between someone's belief in their intelligence and their actual intelligence.
