Illusion Vale (OOC)

About Elmhand's next post: what is he looking upon? I could go search for a previous description of Vakare and copy-paste it into Elmhand's post, or somehow paraphrase it, but I would much rather have something fresh to work with. You wouldn't want me to copy-paste your work, now would you?
;)

Vakare is a vast city built in a series of concentric circles.

There's an outer wall, which houses the primary defences. A gutter type (The Poor Circle) community leading to the second wall. After that there's the merchant's circle and then an inner circle still that holds the governor's tower called the Leading Circle. (or something like that... )

Right now, you see gates being guarded quite thoroughly and very well, but they're still open. And a massive stone wall that you can only assume is circular. Arrow slits, patrolling guards on the top etc.

Like a medieval place.

Does that help?

Yep. It help. Oh, wait. About the gates: how tall are they? I doubt they were made with the idea of a 20 foot Ent in mind.

Well the entire wall, and the gate are about eight storeys high. I'm not sure about in feet, I could look it up but I'm too lazy right now.

So... there you go.

Oh, eight stories tall? Yep, that's tall enough for an Ent that's only about two stories tall.

*nods* Good. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I'll give a reply to all that I need to soon, I promise. Just a little busy flitting around doing all sorts of stuff at the moment.

Got it. Take your time, have fun, and do your best. ;)

Oh, and when you're not online, send Angelus on to post to the other RPs he's in, such as The Force Wars, provided that he's ready to post.

Wolfsister said:
I'll ask but there's no guarantee that he'll listen

There really isn't any reason to push him. I'm sure he'll get to it eventually. Besides, I'm not exactly waiting on Angelus to post in The Force Wars. I'm actually waiting on Ren.

LOL, you're actually waiting on everyone.

After all, our next mission is supposedly to come dig you out of the ice.

Well, I expected it to take some time before Aagh Koth is freed. That was designed to be a sit and wait sort of thing.

It's the other guy, General Whilhuff Koto, that was created to pass the time that I'm unexpectedly waiting on. Until Ren puts up the encounter between Beta Group of 4th Division of the Fifth Fleet and the Dakari, I can't do a darn thing with General Koto.

Ahh.. sorry I forgot about your second character.

Oh well, at least I'm still interested in it. Unfortunately, I am waiting on Angelus, but I'm a patient woman.

No need to apologize. Everyone forgets something, and it seems that is the case with Ren. He may have forgotten about the encounter. He's had enough time to post it, even with RL issues bogging him down.

Wolfsister said:
Just send him a PM then and ask him about it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

I'll wait a few more days. He just might come across this little conversation. Who knows?

Yep. Had fun... sort of :D

Anyway, that's it for me. For IC posting anyway. I'll still be floating around for a little while.

I'm actually wanting to start a new thread up... but.. *shrug* maybe later.

A new thread, eh? What will it be about, if you ever get to it?

Oh, and I have a question regarding Ents. J.R.R. Tolkien doesn't say anything about it, but are Ents magical beings or are they beings who use magic?

To tell you the truth.. I think they're magical beings. More apt with their own abilities, such as communing with nature and having knowledge and long life and all that.

In terms of magical powers... I never really saw them as having any.

Hmm, then I guess Elmhand will have to rely on his shear size and strength to win a fight then. Oh well.

Thanks Wolfsister.

You know, you can always pull something out of the hat and be creative....

I don't know.. Ents may have the ability to shoot branches at people! If you really want something, work it out.
As long as its plausible, I don't see me having a problem with it.

Sorry, I forgot your question about the upcoming thread.

It most likely will be a free form fantasy thread. I'll have threadstarter quirks and power... but I won't be DMing it as much as I've controlled this one.

Anyway, I must be off. Got wifely things to do :p

Cya for now.

And get some sleep!!

*Face brightens* Thanks Wolfsister! I'm working on Elmhand's post, and I figured I might introduce a little magic for Elmhand. Don't worry, it won't be anything absurd or anything. But it will be practical.

I've noticed something about your style of DMing, Wolfsister. It is very similar to how Mantra runs Dragons and Magic II. And that's not all that's similar between the two threads: they are both the longest running RPs on this board. All the others seem to die out rather quickly. I think you and Mantra have found the key to keeping an online RP alive.

Anyways, good night Wolfsister. Oh, and if you're telling me to get some sleep, I will eventually, in about four hours. ;)

G' night.

*nods* Good. I think, though, that Ent's abilities would be rather more defensive than anything.

Mantra and I have similar styles but we are vastly different in our DMing. Mantra prefers to set things up directly with his characters and his players, even controlling them if he wants to.

I'll set things up in the background and keep going until the player gets the hint and goes where I want them to go :D Meesa sneaky!!

Mantra's thread may be shorter, but you're right. It is pretty long running. I guess that we just have storylines that have more pull than others and perhaps its because we pay special attention to what's happening in the story rather than letting it free fall.
