Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is in full panic mode

Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said he is looking into whether the state should shut down all bars and restaurants — and he said he was “yelled” at by a White House staffer over a tweet criticizing a lack of staffing at O’Hare International Airport that led to huge bottlenecks on Saturday.

“We’re actually looking hard at that decision making today,” Pritzker said of whether or not the state will mandate that bars and restaurants to close. “We obviously saw what happened in Europe. Nowhere in the United States really has there been a lockdown on bars and restaurants, but it’s something that we’re seriously looking at.”

Pritzker on Thursday implored all private businesses to allow employees to work from home for two weeks. On Friday, mandates became more severe as he announced all Illinois schools would be shut down to try to stop the spread of coronavirus. The state had 46 confirmed cases as of Saturday, with numbers expected to climb.

The governor on Saturday tweeted that the crowds and lines at O’Hare were “unacceptable & need to be addressed immediately.” He tagged @realDonaldTrump and Vice President Mike Pence, “since this is the only communication medium you pay attention to — you need to do something NOW.”

Pritzer said he received an angry phone call from a White House staffer about 11 p.m. on Saturday, who “yelled” at him about the tweet. He said there were no assurances from the federal government that there would be more staffing to deal with a huge number of American citizens trying to get home from abroad, amid a European travel ban that went into place on Friday. The ban bars most foreign visitors from coming to the U.S. from continental Europe for 30 days.

“Now we’ve been talking to Customs and border patrol officials directly on the ground at O’Hare,” Pritzker said. “I’ve been working with the mayor and our senators to make sure that we are getting the federal government to pay attention to this problem because we can’t have it happen all day today.

Pritzker said the administration should have increased the customs and border patrol numbers, as well as the number of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention personnel on the ground.

“They did neither of those. So last night as people were flooding into O’Hare Airport, they were stuck in a small area, hundreds and hundreds of people, and that’s exactly what you don’t want in this pandemic,” Pritzker said. “So we have that problem. And then today, it’s going to be even worse. There are a larger number of flights with more people coming and they seem completely unprepared.”

Seems more to this article than just contemplating shutting down Bars n Restaurants.

^^^This is yet another thread posted by a Deplorable that denies the actual reality that has taken place in other countries when people are packed into small areas during a viral epidemics, particularly in situations where some of them just returned from countries currently undergoing total lockdown because they did not act quickly enough to mitigate community transmission.

What is it about Deplorables that makes them think that they can deny reality? Are they all narcissists?

Illinois is fucked. :)

Pritzger legalized pot and sports gambling. There is neither. Now no Burger King. :)

He did it. Starting the 16th bars and restaurants will not be open for dine in customers. You can still do drive through or carry out. This is until the end of the month. I see the CDC is recommending this continue for 8 weeks. Bye, Bye small business.:(
