What actions or thoughts by individuals would give to a thought of putting them on an ignore list?

never really placed anyone on ignore as of yet...the true test is to see if you can just ignore them...without the button.....:D

Trolling, TYPING IN ALL CAPS, or claiming to be a 1337 h4XX0r will get a person placed on my list (unless it's obviously a joke).

hmmm Ok you got me here, what's that supposed to mean?

That's 1337-5p34|< for 'leet hacker'.

1337 is a system of writing that uses numbers and symbols in place of actual letters (i.e, 1=l, 3=e, 7=t, etc). It originated as a way for 'Doom' players to talk to thier teammates without taking a hand off the mouse, but since then it has snowballed in popularity with twelve year olds and morons with internet access.

Also note that I have yet to encounter anyone on the Lit boards who uses 1337 in any instance other than to explain it to somebody.

LMAO Now I understand why I didn't recognize it! Thanks

I have no one on ignore and never have placed anyone on it.

I do admit to avoiding certain people's posts. You live and learn here after a while.

Spinaroonie does it, and Angel does sometimes too.

There are many threads that I don't even open for the same reason!

I have a couple of people on ignore.

I put them on ignore when I found that I am consistently reacting negatively to their posts. It's a reminder that if I'm going to read their posts that I'm likely to react, again. Half of the time I still read them, anyway.

Kind of like out of site out of mind?

I have several people on ignore

Mostly because they have proven that they will contribute nothing worthwhileand have a tendency to write small novels. Saves me scrolling time on this dial-up.

Haha. Yes. Out of website, out of mind. I'm not interested in trying to remember who I like and who I don't like. I've also got people I that I enjoy reading on my "buddy" list, even though I've only PM'd one of them--I think.

It occurs to me that it also helps me keep my identities straight. ;)

I briefly put someone on ignore before because they kept sending me PMs that I didn't want. They couldn't take the hint of getting no response so I used ignore for a while. They eventually disappeared and I took them off the list. No need to have them there now :)

I've never put anyone on Ignore before and I don't see myself doing it at any point. With three kids underfoot, you'd be amazed at what I've learned to overlook.
;)

Ya know

This approach REALLY bothers me, unless you told them you didnt want to talk to them first. PMs can get lost, accidentally deleted, ect... Why not just tell someone first and then ignore them if they dont stop?
Myself I much prefer to be told to go away so that at least I know there was no misunderstanding. I think just not responding is cowardly and rude.
I am not calling YOU rude, just that practice IMHO.

They were told openly and repeatedly but every so often they'd PM again. I had enough of it and that's why the ignore came into play.
