I have this going on a bit. As long as I've been posting here, I've only begun an ignore list in the last year. I would never put people on ignore in the older days due to my own idealism. Believing that every voice has a place, and that I'm not being forced to read anything I don't want to read, led me to mid-consciously edit. And even if I did read something I didn't want to, so fucking what? I certainly don't have to participate. Coming to a public, open, and un-moderated forum to participate anyway I wanted to and then proceeding to excise the people I didn't want to see participating how they wanted to seemed mildly repugnant to me. But that was then. Snark, mean-spirited debate, banality, it all seemed to tilt the scale so far that I couldn't easily sidestep it anymore. So I dipped my balls in the ignore hot tub and I've been here ever since.
