If promiscous women are often called sluts (Promiscious-Americans) then what are promiscious men called? This has been bugging me for some time now.

Agreed... The connotation should be the same, but unfortunately a harsher attitude tends to be directed towards women.

Maybe this is because society has historically upheld a woman's body as a sacred thing. OR... Maybe it is just because those who are quick to judge tend to have the loudest opinion...

There is a double standard, and it's not going to go away. Because it is rooted in biology:

A man needs five minutes to do his bit to propagate the species. Then he is, biologically, free to move on to the next fertile woman and make another donation. But a woman needs nine months to do her share for mankind. Any sex more frequently than that cannot be construed as altruistic or for the good of the species.
