A "trope" is like an overused plot-line in the movies or TV.

He thinks you are a trope because some movies about the life in the hood touch on a lot of elements that happen to match up with your life. Like you have a couple of baby mamas, you deal, you've been locked up, family has been locked up. You're gang affiliated.

That is art imitating life, not the other way around. I don't think you and your gangster friends went to the movies, decided the lifestyle looked hip and started living it.

On the other hand what do you usually see in 1970s 1980s shows on tv where there had a black neighbor? He was always kind of hipster, telling jokes, the clown for the show.

That was when I was selling drugs heavy. I really didn't care about spending that much, because I would make it right back tomorrow. The money comes so fast, it's like it was never gone.

My big brah was telling me today how his girlfriend was all drunk and high, that she left $40,000 of his money in a cab. And he didn't care. Freeway Rick Ross used to sell 6 million dollars worth of drugs a day. When you're making that right back, who really cares if you lose it?

Never ceases to amaze me that he genuinely seems to feel his bento-box lifestyle is the "authentic blackness." That his vaunted education on how not-priveledged he is because of the color of his skin exceeds your experience living in the same color skin. Given the statistics on incarceration rates for black males, his inexperience with both prison and having relatives in prison is the anomaly here. The statistically likely, is not the 'trope.' And because he is the board's Prince-loving TV-trope wise-cracking jive-talkin' neighbor "black friend," They all chortle along with him.
