If I was moderator of the General Board ~ I would...

Yep, I agree. But then there would be no posts about you, would there Catherine...

If I was moderator of the General Board~ I would

Be sleeping with Manu. :p

I say that would be a good Idea,Brat Cat, but there is one thing wrong with it.... you would be here allday reading and removing posts that you wouldn't have anytime to post your self.. and you would need help as well... some times you see these posts and you wonder... ar these offencive to some one and if so should it be here..... and then you would start doing that to the registard people as well... and then there is the censership issue that has been debated here since Laurel and Manu started Lit...

so yea you can do that... and then lose all of the people that you have around couse of hte cencership that you are doing. So would it really be a good idea to do what you are thinking about?? I say not.. But I do think that you sould be able to post what ever you want but that you should be registard to do so, so that the person that is in question can contact the other person.

but that is just My Oppinion and shouldn't be counted just like my name implies...

I agree with the sentiment, cat, but I can't agree with action. It would be nice to have people identify who they are so you know for a fact that the uber-sexy guy from Toronto that you've been flirting with isn't the fucking troll whose been using personal information against you.

However, I do believe that the price for the amount of verbal freedom we have here, putting up with assholes, is worth it. I can say anything I want to and I know that the people around me can say whatever they want to. I know that nothing is censored. Laurel isn't going through and changing those "KM is a goddess" posts from "KM is fucking bitch" posts. The censorship of not only what I say, but what other people say is stifling. It promotes an agenda and it promotes distrust in the people who run this place.

I do post, every once in a great while, at a board where viciousness is censored out. No unregistered posts and people who post mean things have the mean things deleted. When something is posted that goes against the general opinion of the board, it's deleted as well.

I hate the fact that unregistered can get away with being a fucknuts, but I'd rather have the unregistered dick than to have to watch what I say.

Killer, I've told you before, I've moved away from there. ;)

In my thinking, it's not censorship to remove the ability to post "unregistered". It may mean that more people self-censor themselves, but, again, to my thinking, that's not a bad idea. That's an entirely separate issue from removing posts - they're not necessarily tied together.

I wouldn't consider removing "unregistered" posts as censorship, any more than it would be to whitewash a wall that's filthy with graffiti.

That's just me, though.

You shouldn't give out personal info if ya don't want it used against you, Catherine, or have you not learned that lesson yet?

Nah...didn't think so.

A) Require registration before posting, and/or

B) Allow unregistered posts to be set on "ignore".

What about the regulars who have posted as unregistered for legitmate reasons? Some have asked for advice on marital difficulties, they've discussed past problems with drug abuse, they've talked about their rapes, they confessed to rape and how it killed them to live with it, they've all posted as unregistered because they were uncomfortable discussing something so private with a known name.

Is deleting unregistereds going to solve the problem? How many names does Andra_Jenny troll under now? How many names does EBW have for himself? Unregistered will simply register a new nick with a fake maildrop for every vicious post. For all of our blather about this being a porn site, it is a porn site and identity verification to the exent required to stop unregistered's activities can't happen or this site will drop off the face of the 'Net.

I still think that requiring people to register is censorship.

I still think that requiring people to register is censorship.

Every American before a court of law has the right to face his or her accusers. No anonymous accusations bear any legal weight. Is this censorship?

If I want to write a check or buy tobacco, alcohol or prescription drugs, I cannot do it anonymously - a photo ID is required. Is this censorship?

There are social services that provide discrete counseling with full confidentiality. People in need of such services are much better served by them than trying to resolve their issues in this cyber coffeehouse. Take your problems to a pro - nobody here qualifies.

I don't know EBW or Andra_Jenny or what I might object about their posts, but I know I can set them and every other registered poster on "ignore" when I want to. I don't have that ability with unregistered posters (the most offensive to me), and I want it.

If people continue to acknowledge "trolls" and respond to the unregistered posts, the problem will only intensify. "Trolls" will only depart if they are ignored.

I don't post as Unregistered and i don't troll with any other name (learned THAT lesson, thanks!) but the reason i've stayed at Lit, and will continue to do so despite the inducements i've had to jump ship a time or two, is entirely because we are free here in a way that i've never seen on any other site in any other place in the whole net - and i've been online for almost 10 years.

In a free society, as we here in the US know, one takes the good with bad. In a free society, all those survivalist/Aryan Brotherhood/white-robes-and-torches nuts up in the eastern Washington/northern Idaho area, the people who were my neighbors just a few short months ago, have as much right to stockpile guns and ammo and camouflage camping gear as i do to write to my local newspaper and protest such dangerous and stupid tactics.

In our free society here at Lit, i can call Laurel a jackass if i want to - and she won't delete my post just cuz she doesn't like it (which happens at the site Muff ref'ed with distressing regularity). Laurel probably won't like that i called her a jackass but unless i included some really nasty and totally inappropriate real life data with the expletive, she wouldn't delete it.

There are a lot of people who post stuff here that i consider to be marginally worthless. So i pass it by.

There are Unreg postings that are chickenshit clucking... and there are Unreg postings that are worthwhile reads. There are many unfortunate, irresponsible, unkind Unreg postings. There are a number of on-spot, topical, interesting Unreg postings, too.

We're all adults.
We all have brains.

1. Pick what you'll read.
2. Pick what you'll post to.
3. Ignore the rest.

Allow all the other adults with brains around here to so the same.

Let Laurel and Manu run the show; they're doing a good job.

Screw the hypocrisy of deleting Unreg posts.
I can choose for myself what i want to let into my brain, thanks. I don't need to be protected, to be censored, to be coddled like a child. I'd protest it if i were treated so.

It's why i value Lit so much: there's none of that bullshit here.

Now this is why I come to Lit, and honest to God debate.

This is great. We have both sides presenting themselves with well thought out arguments. Except for one bad apple this is a great thread.

This is what Literotica should be. Interaction, thought, debate.

Both sides present very good arguments. I would not be able to say one side is winning over the other at this point if I was judging this debate.

I have my personal feelings on the subject, but right now I don't want to enter them.

Good job everyone but one.

Teach.
