Coati's point of minimizing risk is a fair one. In order to be effective, in a confined area, everyone needs to wear a mask, that would pretty much eliminate most airborne threats, mask have to be both defensive and offensive in nature. Offensive is the most important, keep bodily excretions to yourself. Orders to wear masks have to be born of common sense and remedy the threat, wearing a mask while walking alone with your dog is abuse of authority.

I have seen no such data, or even a summary, on any such tests. I did read, that many believed that the virus is simply exhaled, cough or sneeze not required.
I have seen no data regarding the size of the particles exhaled.
I have seen no data, on the size of the particles exhaled, after an hour....or two.

I have seen not beta ration tests, on any masks, with .01 um particles.

If everyone followed your extreme thinking about masks not totally eliminating risks, healthcare workers would not even bother with N95 masks and people would even not be asked to cough into a Kleenex or their elbow. You are obviously not an epidemiologist, but you are trying to make the case that you don't need to wear a mask in public gathering places to help protect others.

That attitude puts first responders at risk. I saw a picture of an unmasked and open-mouthed protester at the Michigan capital getting right up in the face a law enforcement officer who was wearing a mask and doing his best not react to this verbal assault. COVID-19 is not HIV-- it does not require sex or sharing injection needles to transmit it to another person. If you happen to be infected and you are shouting the face of another person, that can cause transmission.

I think I will stick to following the recommendations of epidemiologists and not follow the extreme thinking of someone contradicting their recommendations on the porn board. And, I will continue to avoid stores that don't require everyone entering their store to follow these CDC guidelines.

I also pointed out, that a mask made out of burlap, will filter .12 um particles, although, not as many as a mask made out of t-shirt material.

My question is, OK, want to make a mandate, that I should wear a mask ANYWHERE in public, which is rock-brained stupid, then give me the data, so I can understand why. I want to see .12 um testing for genuine N95 disposable, which at this point in time, are pretty much unavailable to the peasants, as well as standard surgical masks, which are not N95, and home made masks, made of various obtainable materials.

I think wearing a mask in a confined area is a prudent measure. I think what also comes with the territory is personal responsibility. I live next to the Old Soldiers home in Holyoke MA, many people died, had the proper protective protocol been in place and was adhered to or made available ( ppe) this tragedy could have been avoided. This virus has a specific area of influence, mostly the elderly with pre-existing and underlying conditions. Protocols should be directed to that segment of the population. The virus does exist and it's deadly to a certain segment of our population and measures should be taken, the difficult part is where do you draw the line. Shutting the whole economy down is the equivalence of killing a mosquito with a 12 lb sledge hammer. One size remedy is more destructive than good.

He says you have to stay indoors while he finds a place to launch his boat and do a little fishing. He wants the rest of the world to wear a mask but at this point I'm wondering if he wears one when he's out in his fields or fishing.

His hypocrisy is blatant and glaringly obvious.

My cousin can tell you about that kind of stuff in Michigan. The mandate was: He and hi wife can go out in a boat, if it doesn't have an engine. Put the outboard on it.....nope....against the mandate. And they can't go to their cabin (a second home) to get the boat. That's a no-no.

I agree! I take my dog to the park every morning and I'll be damned if I'm wearing a mask. LOL Some cop will probably give me a hard time sooner or later. MA is soooo blue it's purple!

Well, do what you want. There may be some businesses and health care facilities that will not allow you to enter their premises without a mask, but I doubt much more will happen to you.

The rest of the anti-mask hysteria I have heard on this thread is just that, hysteria. Hell, most protesters in Michigan were not wearing masks.

I don't wear a mask when I am driving or working at a job site on my own. Common sense when you are not around other people.

Some of the action on mask enforcement will be economic in nature. A lot of people will refuse to go into publicly-accessed confined areas unless masks are required, so that will hurt certain businesses if they choose to ignore the mask recommendation.
