I made her take an ice bath, because we've been "playing" a bit tooo rough recently and its taken its tol on her body..

i heard a few mins in freezing water with ice does something to the healing process..?

do any of your do this?

we've gone back to vanilla sex for the time being...

Well... If it's bruising-- you've seen boxer's handlers pushing ice around on their faces? You can press the blood that shows as a bruise, back while the cold controls swelling. But you have to press pretty hard. sitting in cold water doesn't do so much.

A good night's sleep would be helpful, and maybe a box of chocolates ;)

Ice baths are great if you want to pretend your partner is dead while you fuck them.

What do you need her to "heal" from? Bruises, cuts, or scrapes?

Ice baths won't do anything but potentially put her into shock...not pretty.

Arnica cream and a pack of frozen peas would be best for bruises.

Cuts and scrapes need Neosporin and a soft gauze bandage.

The NFL uses cold baths to help relieve sore muscles and joints of players, but these guys have been hit all over, so that's why they use a cold bath. Unless you have injuries and bruises all over your body, a cold bath is going too far.

For the first 24-48 hours, use cold packs wrapped in a towel and applied on the area that's injured or bruising. Apply for 20 minutes at a time at least several times a day. Don't apply it for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Once the bruise has stopped spreading (usually after 30-36 hours), change the cold packs to moist heat packs with the same 20 minute application. Heat pads with a moist towel between the bruise and the heat pad will give you moist heat. Dry heat can burn and it won't radiate through the skin as well as moist heat.

Like any injury, the sooner you start this process, the less the bruise will spread. If you wait too long, there will be no need for the cold pack. Once you've given the bruise a chance to spread, you've missed your chance to stop it. The cold pack is applied to restrict blood vessels and inhibit blood flow and swelling to the bruise. Then, when you apply the moist heat, that opens up blood vessels and assists with the breaking up of the bruise, allowing blood flow away from the area.

Like someone has already said, a cold bath should be used sparingly. The shock can be bad for your heart. Personally, I'd rather try the cold pack/moist heat. I'm not in the NFL.
