The moment was there so close that she could almost taste it. Just inches from a kiss her lips were pouting in anticipation and just as soon as he was upon her a whimper from Lucky broke the magic. With a light chuckle she blushed hoping he hadn't caught the need in her body language. And even though Lucky might have chosen the worse moment to intervine her stomach had jumped in growling murder if it weren't fed.
"I suppose we have no choice. Between Lucky and my monster stomach dinner is the only choice." She was led to the table where Steve prepared their meals. A smile never leaving her lips as she sat down and took part of her food.
The idea that Steve would be around no matter what gave her a sense of protection she hadn't had in a while. Smiling she continued to eat, listening to Steve's light dinner banter though Lucky seemed to be interrupting him with whimpers of seconds. He filled the pups bowl once more, giving her seconds as well and himself before they all were stuffed little pigs.
Sometime during their chit-chat, Steve had laid out a blanket near the back of the hummer opening the truck and letting the door hang open. He fashioned it into a make-shift bed where the two of them and Lucky snuggled up comfortably. Apparently they would continue moving in the morning and use this night to rest up giving Steve time to siphon some more gas before they headed out.
Curled into a tight little ball of comfort, Steve held her close to him, nuzzling her ear as they both lay silently dozing. Eventually, the silence was broken as Rivy spoke up. "What do you think will happen when we get to our destination? I mean there's got to be more people out there then the two on the radio. I hope they're friendly at the very least." she said softly curling into his chest for warmth. "No matter what happens can you promise not to leave me alone. I mean, meeting one stranger on the side of the road is one thing. We got to learn more about each other but meeting more strangers with no idea who they are or where they come from I'm a little nervous. And with the world being how it is, people may have lost their moral values; dumping them on the wayside."
