The story feedback forum is a decent place for posting snippets and asking for feedback. If you're willing to review others, you might also try the story discussion circle forum, which requires you to review the work of others first. Plenty of good advice to be had there, and reading reviews of others' work can also be instructive. Best of luck -

All i can find over there is sex advice.

is there like, a practice room or whatever somewhere?

I think Rumple was referring to the How To section of stories rather than the forum.

The only thing close to a practice room is the Sexual Role Play forum.

Try the How Tos in the Writer's Resources section.

the thing is, i dont want to read a bunch of crap, when i want to write.

i was hoping there was a place on the forums i could post a few paragraphs and ppl would review it without having to submit to the site to get feedback.

Tell me before I go over there; are they like a tight click, where everything has to be written exactely this way?

Nope, sorry....you get pretty much what you give. Isn't that a tad selfish?

Go ahead and post them. I'm curious. Right here.

Then I'd suggest the SRP forum.

When you ask questions, read the answers. Or do you just write.
The story feedback forum is where you can post some your "work" and get feedback without submitting to the site.

Or as Joe W. suggested, why not post them here. People do that sometimes.

To skip the text books and just let creativity guide me? I don't know, I guess if could be selfish from some distant point of view.

Let me see if I have this straight...

You want to post your work, and have lots of people that you don't know, offer to help you out of the goodness of their hearts, but you don't want to be bothered to read any "crap" or actually do any work to improve your writing.

Is that about it?

If you're so confident about your creativity, then why are requesting advice?

Every writer I know is selfish in some aspect or another. (Hell, this goes for the human race most of the time as well.) It's just that around here, concerning advice and opinions, you get back more when you give.

I don't see that as selfish. Creativity is a wonderful guide.

If you can spell.

Jesus, people... can ya'll lighten up on the girl?

Chica, don't let them get you down. You wouldn't be the first person to post something here just to show a little creativity, hoping for people to critique and advise about what you're strong and weak at.

By all means, post up--we'll do what we can.

What the fuck?
You accuse me of doing exactely what you're doing right now?

Are you sure you're a writer?

It's not. It's less selfish, though, than simply assuming the other writers will do the work for you to get your writing to where it needs to be instead of honing your craft yourself.

Multiple people have responded to your thread with suggestions and links. Do you realize that not only have you shot down every single one in an increasingly rude fashion, but you haven't thanked one damn person who has gone out of their way to try to assist you?

Hit a nerve, did I?

Sorry.....

Not really, no, I'm not. I don't mind helping someone out, quite the opposite, but to me it sounds like you want someone else to do all the work....and it is work to write well.

What they are saying is that you should take the initiative to learn some things for yourself, not just beseek the aid of everyone else so that you can dwell in the creativity that we call writing.

Do you think that all the people who are here had someone to show them everything they know about writing? Noone can really do that anyways, since every one of us writes differently. You will develop your own style, your own methods.

We can give you opinions on your writings, but that doesn't mean you will get any feedback that is actually useful to you, as a writer.

There's a system to getting feedback. It's not about reading manuals. The 'how to' section was just one suggestion.

The Story Discussion Circle or Story Feedback Forum are both places in which you read the work of others (only 2 or 3 pieces) and then they will read whatever you put up and offer you feedback on it in turn.

At this point, I'd tell you to just start writing, edit it as best you can and submit it. If it sucks ass it will bomb and then you'll know. That's really the only way to get feedback without taking the time to help others out as well.

Wowwie! I would really love to help you cause I wrote a story too and it needed a lot of help before it was ready but Dsarnoel was really nice and helped me so I want to be nice and help you but I have to go to work in a few minutes so it will have to wait until tomorrow is that ok?
