I got a comment today on The Model Garden - The Island, the fifth in a five-part series, the first four essentially centring on group sex, four mature ladies and one magnificent bull of a younger man. This story was down to a MFF threesome.

Anonymous said: This story destroyed the ideal art of making love. All of them. Why share and be content with a male and female in love. This world has gone crazy with confusion of sex both with gay and multiple partners. The true art of making [sic] between one man and one woman.

Okay, so while I think there’s a lot of romance in the tale, somebody didn’t like it. That’s fine; everybody’s entitled to their opinion. But I do wish there was some way to discuss it with them. First off, I’m not completely sure they didn’t approve.

More importantly, did they jump right in on the last story, ignoring the five-ways in the earlier tales? Even more odd, this isn’t a terribly short tale at 18k+ words. It was tagged ‘group sex’ and ‘MFF’ and ‘threesome’ and had an introduction clearly pointing to poly goings-on. What were they expecting?

I do wish I could ask what was going through their head.

😐

I'm going to include that in a future story.

"Hey."
"Yeah?"
"Baby, I wanna do the art of making with you."
"Wait. The... the true art of making?"
"Yes, my love."
"Between, like, one man and one woman?"
"Oh yes."
"Wow." Pause. "That sounds ideal!"

All I would say is don't assume they read the other four parts. I get comments that were obviously written without the benefit of the reader actually reading the story. Usually, the comment reads something like, "Why did/didn't you...", when I actually went to some length to write exactly what they commented about. I think sometimes, a reader just scans looking for something in particular and if they don't find it, they feel obligated to complain in a comment.

It's at times like this that I get annoyed there's no function to reply to a comment on stories here. Getting more engaging feedback would be a lot easier that way.

Yeah, same here. The first part of my series clearly explains why a character is there and what they're doing, yet I still got a comment on the sequel complaining about it.

Well somebody has gone crazy with confusion, that's for sure.
