I wish more Republicans were like her.

I find it almost impossible to say "Walla Walla" without a caricature Australian accent.

Well, fuck me. Apparently I'm just going to sit at my computer and cry all night.

This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I used to live close to walla walla, wonderful part of the country.

Here, VA, I have tissues. That was a very heartfelt, but logical, argument. It would sure take some guts to stand up and make a speech like that, knowing the backlash you're likely to get.

I just wish I could feel like she would have this stance if she didn't have a gay daughter. It seems that most of the Republicans that reverse their stance on this issue have a close family member to use as an example. So if it hadn't touched their lives personally...would they think the same?

That being said, she's awesome.

I think that if she felt this way because of her daughter being gay, she would not have led with "how can I deny anyone the right to have that incredible bond that I had with my husband."

I paraphrase.

Then she shouldnt have brought her daughter into the mix. Believe me, I'm incredibly impressed with her and so proud to be a woman in a world with her but there is always that...what if aspect.

Her and her hubby were not gay. They had children and raised them. Her stance is what it is because her daughter is gay.

I'm not really Republican, but I am fairly conservative. I have a niece who is gay, but even before I found that out, I felt that the ban was just kind of silly. Denying a gay couple marriage will not stop the behavior they are objecting to anyway, and I believe the government should stay out of the bedroom. So, maybe she already felt that way, just feels it more strongly now because of her daughter. I know I wish I'd had what she did, that long, loving bond with her husband and three great kids. She's lucky.

I expect miles will be along shortly to chastise you for using homosexuality as a pejorative.

Any minute now.

You would think that miles, being an upstanding guy that he is, would have the fuzzy little racist homo hater on his vast iggy list he always brags about.

I feel pity for said fleabag. Imagine living such an insular life that he'll never come to understand that the gays are in fact people too.

I'm not everyone's cup of tea.

Something tells me that you're not overly bothered by that.

You make me grin, and you're not homophobic. I like you just fine, for what it's worth.

Would this be an appropriate thread in which to play the penis game?

I live in NYC, have so for most of my life. Hard to be homophobic living here.

I'm also single, so I don't begrudge anyone the right to be with the love of their life. It's what I want too.

We should start a new game. How about if I say something funny and you post your tits?....but not in this thread. I want to keep it on-track.

I feel even more pity for you, needing the gherkinboy to try and bail you out. Well actually I don't.

You've seen my tits. Everyone has seen my tits. They're yesterday's news.

And with that, I leave you to fight the good fight.
