Any stories that contain the phrase:

"perfect tits"
"perfect breasts"
"to die for"
"like a movie star"
"mouth-watering" (used to describe a body part)
"really built"

or that contain:

the word "literally" used improperly
cup sizes
penis sizes
comparisons to movie stars or celebrities
any story that begins "It was a beautiful/perfect/(etc) day..."
Any story that begins with a character asking themselves a question (How did I get here? What am I doing here? Why am I doing this?)
Any story that begins "I was a freshman/sophmore/junior/senior
in high school/college..."

The list will inevitably be expanded.

*L* cutting down on your work load Dr M?

I think you've cut out a good percentage of stories with your list already! :D

LMAO, Dr. M.

What about "gallons of cum?" Of course, by the time you run across that phrase, you've probably read most of the story...

Doc,

Maybe you need a system similar to the one used by businesses in college towns. Many of them won't take a check numbered under, say, 400. This policy eliminates the new college students who usually write most of the hot checks.

By adopting this policy, you could eliminate anyone with less than a certain number of posts-maybe a hundred. What I'd like to see is a system that wouldn't let anyone be critiqued until they had written a few themselves.

Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Yes, I have to agree, I like that idea too.

Have a good day.

Whew, Dr. M I value your feedback so I'm glad I've never used any of those and I'll be sure not to now. LOL

feedback please dr_m

What am I doing here? Me, a cute sophomore at senior school with a freshman boyfriend. I had looks to die for and had been compared to a movie star. And I am not talking Boris Karloff! I remembered last night how I had stroked my boyfriend’s 9 inch dick and how he came on these perfect tits of mine. I looked down at them, 36 DDs and no silicone either. God, they were perfect breasts, I was really built, there was no doubt about it! I looked at the blue sky; it was a perfect day but it already hot, too hot. I was literally sweating buckets.

What am I doing here? Oh I remember, I am waiting for feedback from Dr_mabeuse. Something tells me I could be in for a long wait!

:D  I'd be honoured to review anything by you, Chicklet. And would never impose my judgment in advance about what words you should use.

oh, and Octavian....

I'm awaiting the posting of the complete epic with bated breath.

Rules were made to be broken, and in the case of your story, what can I say?

It was a cold day in February when I read it and it was literally perfect.

I'd like to see the feedback board merge with the SDC.

I have the unique pleasure of posting at a poetry forum that requires you crit at least two poems prior to putting one of your own up. Real crits, not just "Great poem!" either.

There'd have to be 24/7 mods sitting around waiting to lock a thread up until the crits were done. But hey.

I've given two and half tons of feedback here, mostly to people who never came back.

But that's the way it goes 'round here. Writers are a fuckin' selfish lot.

Here's a suggestion to add to your list:

Anyone who starts out a feedback request with the phrase "I write for myself" or "I write from the heart" or any other pre-emptive strike against less than "I love your story!" feedback.

KillerM,

The SDC board is a gem! Don't merge it with the Feedback board. SDC is one place free of self-promotion, where people are serious about giving and taking criticism. The Feedback board is nice, but more amateur, and should you merge them, you know what will happen.

I'm on-board with Doc on this one. What I'd like to see is the SDC expanded. Have a new story posted each week and at least two stories available for critique at any one time. When the week's new one is posted,, the oldest story could be closed.

There's nothing sacred about those times or numbers. They could (should) be adjusted to fit demand at the discretion of the modirator.

The added activity might encourage more writers to post and criitique on the SDC.

HOWEVER, I do wish there was some way to require folks here to write one of two critiques before they could receive them OR a system existed that'd show how many critiques someone has written.

The old dreamer,

The problem with the SDC is the lack of stories.

I have one story left in the line that can be posted for review.

Why should people bother with it when they can get feedback here? So they don't. No new faces, no new stories.

The only other avenue is to put up stories to discuss that haven't been volunteered. I just have to find those stories.

KM,

I'm not trying to get "in your face" on this, but I just went to the SDC board and counted four (4) stories in the volunteer thread waiting to be critiqued. All of them were posted over the last month. The writers include: TheEarl, the_bragis, sweetnpetite, and me.

This may be a "chicken and egg" situation. A board with little activity attracts little traffic which results in few stories being volunteered.

No better way to test a theory than to try something different on the SDC instead of abolishing it. I suspect RF has a point. My personal preference would be to see a thorough story review at a rate of one per week instead of the low post and review rate now.

The SDC reminds of the schoolhouse with classroom teachers and anxious students waiting to get back a test or exam to find out which questions were answered correctly, and which were not--with the real focus on those questions that were wrong. Why? We learn best from our mistakes, especially if the feedback is provided promptly.

I think there's the underlying but underutilized power on the SDC. It should be an invitation to those serious enough to offer up their work, (exposing life and limb to critique ;) ) because they want to learn and improve in their art and craft. And the timeliness in getting back a "grade" is often as important as the test itself, reinforcing and motivating what is good, and demotivating what is not so good.

If the post and review rate is increased, I believe more authors (and would-be authors) would fill the backlog for review. And a test of Rumple's suggestion to increase the post and review of stories over a period of a few months would confirm or dispel that theory.

That's a good analogy of the place. That place scares me, you know. I do want to be progressive with my work, making changes and so on as I go.

joining the hi-jacking

SDC is intimidating for me. Sometimes I have 'constructive' thoughts and concerns, but I don't have a full blown 'review' to give.

I love to read others' stories and discuss them. I enjoy exploring motivation, structure and theme.

I have resisted being an overt participant in SDC for several reasons. Perhaps laziness is the biggest one.

I greatly appreciated the discussion of one of my stories that occurred on the AH board and the pm's that dr_m, gauche and paulx35 sent me (they were too gracious and didn't trash my story on the board). I have tried to do the same for other authors.

I know that structure is necessary for constructive discussion. But I balked when I read the list of requisites. Perhaps it would be helpful to have some directed questions from the authors themselves. (Maybe this occurs and I don't know about it.) It helps me as a reader to have specific issues for which I am reading if I am trying to help. e.g. a friend here asked me to review a draft of her story for 'flow' and 'credibility'.

I think the other intimidation factor is that when I have posted a story it is "in the can"... so to speak. The time I really am eager for give and take is when I am still refining.

chicken and egg.. I guess.

For me, there's a difference between feedbacking a finished story and doing the same on something that is still in statu nascendi. In the latter case, the writer will most likely be in search of suggestions and ideas to get a stuck story going again, or to alter it in ways that make it a better read. The more distant view of someone else can be very valuable often, is my experience, and I also strongly think these feedbacks are best given via PM or private email, since they concern stories that aren't yet on the board.
I also see the SF-forum serve both purposes, unintentionally sometimes when people post stories there that many would think could do with quite a bit of additional polishing and rethinking.
Any views here?

Paul
