It was interesting. Julie Andrews was Smokin'. The social-political milieu was interesting. Gender roles. Parenting. Coming of age. It was interesting how things change.

i watched it as well.

about thirty years ago.

i've also seen mary poppins.

among others.

i was adamantly opposed to seeing it first run in, what, 65? i resisted until about 2 years ago when i decided it couldn't possibly be THAT bad after listening to the broadway recording. guess what.............it was even worse than i imagined.

You're lucky to have escaped that long. Every time it was broadcast, a well intentioned but deserving of torture adult would put it on "for the kids". :(

the alps are
pretty fucking
amazing.

and those people
over there put
on those silly looking
pants and climb
right up the side
of those fucking
mountains.

i don't know.

it's kind of a
chick flick.

And I, as well as "Victor and Victoria" and "S.O.B".

My son HATES Sound of Music. From the first time he saw it he has. When he was bad as a kid, which being my off spring was very often, his mom would sit him down and make him watch it. A year or so after he moved out of the house I asked what he wanted for his birthday.

His response was," I want that fucking sound of music VCR tape".

When I asked why, the answer,"So I can burn the god damn thing!"

Now that kind of reaction had to come from his mothers side of the family. :D
