One Thousand Nights and a Night. You may have heard of it. Lots of them set in and around Baghdad.

Well, it made me think.

1001 night. I have the whole series at home. Loved those stories as a kid. What did they make you think?

I wonder if the love story Saddam wrote is available in eBook format.

I don't care. Adobe haven't released a Mac OS X native eBook Reader yet.

Aaaahhh, you notice I left it open? :D

I thought how things change. When the stories were written I get feelings of beauty and splendour. Now I just feel sad that things have gone so badly pear shaped.

I just think it'd be cool to have. I sent out some feelers to the BitTorrent community, I'll see if they have it.

Of course I noticed. ;)

Well, those stories are tales. Fairy tales. They paint the picture of a fairytale kingdom. Beauty, splendor but even within the stories there is evil, fear, oppression and death. But they also tell of good endings, love, bravery, faith and so on. The have everything a good fairytale should include. Many of them also had moral images and similar in them.

The stories were written in a time when things were probably better than now, but even if times were bad, the persons writing would not want to portray the reality. If times are bad we remember the good times and want to escapre reality. And if you talk about the place you call home it'll probably be in words of beauty and splendour. :)

Oh, I understand the manner in which they were written, but I started to think about all the architecture that's being turned to pebbles.

I hate to see things destroyed when they were once so wonderful...

Yes, that's really a shame. My friend from Texas visited a friend in Lebanon last fall. Some of the photos he took were amazing views, and one site was just ruins but you could see how beautiful it must have looked before that.

I wish I could go back in time and save certain things. The Library at Alexandra for instance.

Supposedly. It's supposed to be really bad.

It's been turned into a musical over there and he wrote another book.
