i want to move.

I have the wanderlust too, neci my darling. I want to wait for another couple of years for my oldest to be done with school but life works in weird ways.

For now I'm planning a trip to a tropical locale and we will see what happens with the job.

I have an uncle that lives on the Kona side of the big island at 70°F where the coffee grows. He enjoys it much better than southern CA.

Come live out in Cali near me. We will have grand adventures and lots of fun ;)

I have been at the major airport in your vicinity and it was 120°F on the tarmac. And the drinking fountain water tasted like a swamp. Not a nice place in early August.

Somewhere in the mid west thats above sea level is my recommendation.

Good trip for you would be route 66.

Id like to do it someday as well.

Do you live in Houston now? Or is that where you used to live.

The weather in Texas blows IMO

Residents will try to tell you different but there are NO seasons.

It's hot and shitty to the point you cant go out and enjoy it in summer, and the winters are lame.

i don't know how east coast i am. i can see the appeal though. it would make for a fun road trip at the least.

At best.... history for the kids is the only reason that place is worth visiting imo.

West coast is clearly the best coast.

oooohhh... how tropical? mine are still in school and love it here, so who knows. there's also business to think about. practical reasoning says stay. the more it says that, the more i feel the need to move.

If you have marketable skills or know how to hustle up your own pile you can live anywhere you want.

NorCal is a pretty even handed 4 season climate unless you're right on the coastal fog belt and the views aren't half bad either.

I really loved Big Sur when I spent some time in Monterey years ago. Went down there regularly on weekends, camping, hiking, climbing, etc. It had everything. The ocean. Cliffs. Giant forests. Mountains. Streams. Canyons. All kinds of wildlife. It had it all.

Get me out of Québec!:D

You can easily move to Ontario. Cornwall is just down the 401 and has an international bridge across the St. Lawrence river. Smaller town living. You might even catch a glimpse of Ryan Gosling when he comes home.

Southern Ontario is an awesome place to live. Fantastic climate, all four seasons, one of the greatest cities in the world Toronto, small town or giant metropolis, some of the best freshwater sand beaches in the world, economic heartland of Canada, great universities and hospitals, Niagara region wines, orchards all over, some of the world's most productive farmlands, low crime rate, great fishing and hunting, arts and theater, Stratford Shakespeare (see some of the world's great actors come do the Bard), Oktoberfest.

Cornwall gives easy access to US New England states, Niagara to New York state and all points south, Windsor to US mid west region.

Not much in pro sports. Just the Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays. But everyone else comes to play them. Niagara lets you see Bills and Sabre games. Windsor Lions, Tigers and Red Wings.

Ontario-Yours to discover.

any ideas of where you would want to live, if you could just pick a place and move?

The Tri-Cities area of Washington State. The only thing that makes me hesitate at all is having to leave my daughter.

Cornhole, Ontario ...spent a summer there. What a dump.

Perfect for her!

i really like where you live. :cattail:

it's on the road trip for sure.
I better get some Neci hugs during this road trip ;)

You've got me there. Summers here can be pretty nasty.. but this time of year it's quite lovely. I love the area I'm in now :)

I was leaning Hawaii and I still am but recently Fiji was brought up.

oooohhhhh..... you deserve it! i want pictures!

to be fair, there are very few places that are nice in august.

i grew up in H-town. texas born and raised. texas will be nice until februaury or march, then it gets shitty again. i am always disappointed at how fast spring is. i've done quite a bit of route 66, and it's nice, but rather desolate now. new mexico has always called to my soul, and i try to escape out that way as much as possible. so many options.

You can fish for feeder king salmon any day of the year. Just put a heater in the boat.

that is a good life. i need fresh fish for my soul. fresh fish that is not catfish.

I'm imagining the cakes, alright...

oh. yeah.

So delicious.

nom nom nom nom nom nom

i've been scoping this area. i plan on driving hwy 101 the next time i'm out that way. i want to check out nor cal on up to washington's costal areas. i'm not worried about work really. it's the cost of living/housing prices i worry more about. i currently have a very sweet deal where i live, since i bought years ago. i want to be able to do what i want to do, without too much stress and worry about making bills. it takes time to establish a business, so that it dependably pays your mortgage. i'd probably have to take on additional work. anyways. just thinking out loud.

i agree the west coast is better than the east coast. that being said, i think i'd love maine, vermont and new hampshire. i've just never been there.

big sur is also hella expensive. southern california is not for me. this i know. it's way too crowded and fast paced.

The Tri-Cities area of Washington State. The only thing that makes me hesitate at all is having to leave my daughter.

i've looked up that way. i was surprised to find how reasonable housing prices are in washington state. i'd like 5-10 acres outside of a city area. preferable an hour drive. enough distance that i can access what i need, but still have some clear night skies.

I better get some Neci hugs during this road trip ;)

yes please.

Come here..it's actually quite nice...and great trails for the old man

We had a city referendum years ago to diss Quebec
You never know, we may end up somewhere close by.
Quebec government is a dictatorship, right down to the language police. It is not a democracy here.

I know Cornwall (it is just a hop, skip and a jump, from where we live) still too close with the language issues, with what I do for work.

Within the next 1-3 years, I believe we will be state side.

Husband is not fond of Toronto.

They want to transfer us to Vancouver but the husband pointed out that the average house is about a million bucks. The salary would have to increase to the lifestyle.

We would like to live in Northern NH or Maine but again, employment. It depends what the husband's company is willing to do.

I would also like a condo in Scotsdale AZ. I like it there. Great during the winter.

Nice trip, nothing about it is ugly.:)

Fair enough, it can get spendy here...though once you get a couple hrs north of the bay area prices drop significantly and aren't much worse than metro Texas. If you're a deal hunter gems can be had for less.

Oh yea, I'd suggest the fall...October in New England is stunning.

Single wide trailer? 8.9 MILLION DOLLARS!! LOL

I lived there for 6 years, 13 years ago. Mountains every direction you travel. 2 rivers, the Columbia and Snake right out the back door, huge rivers. Jet Sking, camping, tons of places to camp. Man, I really want to go back. I need to really think about it and make sure it's what I want. Both my parents are gone now but it would mean leaving my 23 year old daughter. I just don't know.

Maybe talk to her about it and see if she would move too?
