Ok, I've just had this interest in getting pierced. This is new, so I want to think it over first.

So some questions for those of you who are pierced! These questions are about nipple piercing, but if your pierced in other places you can answer too!

Did it hurt? How much?
(I like a little bit of pain, but not a lot).

Was there swelling, or any after effects?

Did it effect your sensitivity?

Around how much did it cost?

What is the care situation for it? (Cleaning, etc)

I am allergic to most metals, so anyone know if they make the rings that I would be able to wear?

Check out this thread in the "how to" section- it might help you make your decision.

http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42786

I have my nipples pieced- it hurt like a bitch when I got it done and they were really sore the next day, but they're extra sensitive now. They're still healing (I got them donw 2 months ago) and although they have to played with gently for now, it feels amazing! :)

It cost me $60 for both (I think he gave me a deal) and I have to wash them with antibacterial sopa once a day and clean them twice a day with Bactine. Pretty easy upkeep.

i think a good person to seek the answers you are looking for would be mae13, she's had it done, and has some really cool rings in hers! I know she has some info posted in the amateur pics feedback board, you might want to check there

I am so glad you brought this question up ohiobbw. I have wanted this for so long. Then after seeing cym's awesome av (given to her by april-wine, whose lips are soooo kissable) I have been searching the net finding different info about the piercings.

Thanks lilminx for the link, I could not find it anywhere.

Thanks for the link lilminx, I had gone into that thread before, but had forgotten about it! (I went in to it before I wanted to get pierced).

StondTmplPilot, I have seen Mae13 and her nipple rings on the Pic board. She is a beautiful woman!

I am teetering on the brink of getting my clithood done.

I've heard too many stories about the pain involved with nipple piercings and how long they take to heal.

that she is :)

I've had my nips (clit hood and labia - inner and outer) pierced and repierced over and over. I eroticize the experience, it's part of my sexuality, and is a thing that only one person does to me - so i'm probably not the best person from whom you should solicit advice on this.

No, it didn't "hurt".
It's always a rush of sensation, of course, but i want that, crave it, need it. Additionally, everyone percieves pain differently, as you know, so what one person says about this may or may not fall anywhere near the experience you will have with it.

My piercings seem to heal very quickly (a week to two weeks for nip piercings, less - much less - for the hood pierce and that done on my inner labia) and with minumum sensitivity. Of course, my Master is *very* conscientious of cleanliness and i follow the aftercare directions with perfect attention to detail. I've never had an infection in any piercing he's done on me any place on my body.

Almost to a person, the claim is that it makes your nipples *more* sensitive to stimuli than when they were not pierced. It certainly does make mine - and MS' - more sensitive.

I've never paid for a piercing yet. Don't know anything about cost.

Aftercare:
1. Keep your hands off them. Your hands are the dirtiest part of your body, even dirtier than your anus. Think of all the places, things, stuff, etc you touch in a couple hours. Yuck. You really want all those nasty microbials near your new piercing?
2. Wash them with mild antibacterial soap (Dial or something like that - i used liquid soap on new piercings) once or twice daily. Be sure that you move the ring/bar while you're doing that washing.
3. Wait until you've been in the shower for awhile to wash them; the heat and water will dissolve any crusties that have accumulated since your last shower and it'll be easier to move the ring/bar without tearing any fragile newly-healing skin.

The most important aftercare is this: keep your dirty hands off those things.

Finally, any reputable piercers will insert rings/bars made of metal you can stand. Lots of us have sensitivities to metals. It's common.

Go read over the Piercing and Tats thread again, please. Providing an answer for these kinds of questions is precisely why it's there.

I got both nipples done in the same session.. for about $60.

It hurt like a muthaf***er, but don't tell cym I said that ;) i'm supposed to say 'it hurt so goooood' :p

The majority of the searing pain was while the needle was going though the nipple itself.. hurt for about a minute afterwards while getting used to the ring in the nipple. Then they were just a very tender sore for a couple of days afterwards. Didn't want my kids hugging on me.. or any physical contact in that region.

I opted to go without my bra for the next few days w/ just a light tank top or t-shirt.. but some people say they liked the support of the bra better.

I washed w/ orange Dial (antibacterial).. and liquid Aveeno (the oatmeal soap).. I liked the Dial better. It's been a couple of months now and I've only been using my normal Caress and it works just fine. The rings get a little crusty now and then (I notice its usually after something bumped up against them) but washing in the shower takes care of that.

Something that I highly stress.. please PLEASE go to a reputable piercer. I went to a tattoo parlor who sidelines in piercing (I went with a friend who was getting tattoo'd, I thought 'why the hell not'). I love the piercings themselves.. but the left piercing was done crooked and when my nipple gets hard, I notice the ring is too close to the edge for my liking. I also wasn't impressed with the fact that piercer wouldn't let me choose the rings I wanted.. she said I had to use this particular set.. and now i'm stuck with them for 6 months before I can change them. (I plan on getting my left one repierced so that it's in the right spot.. but it's something I have to mentally work up to now that I know what it feels like)

I would check out a few different places to get an idea with how they do things, and try to go to the ones that specialize in piercings only.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~:D~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a side note.. I love how they feel when someone is sucking on them (nipples) and they grasp the ring in their teeth.. it's kind of a naughty feeling for innocent little ol' me. ;)
The pain of the piercing was intense.. but very worth it.. these are piercings I will not remove for a long long time, if ever. (I have pics on a thread I made for cym around here somewhere, taken the same day and a few days afterwards).
Good luck, and enjoy!
Licky
And we demand before and after pics. You know, just to make sure they did a good job on the piercing.
;)
Hrm...
Guess I'll add my two bits in here too...
First off, it is impossible to really judge from others' experiences how much it will hurt. So much goes into a piercing-why you are having it done, how you feel and react to pain, just too many things to count! With any piercing, you'll find people who say they hardly felt it at all, and people who will swear it was worse than labor! ;)
For me, personally, the initial piercing did hurt some, the best way I can describe it is a searing pinch, it did not last long. Unless it is being done in the name of painplay (such as Cym's), it will be done quickly. The second one will probably sting a little more, as you are anticipating it more. There will be a second time when you might feel pain (for me it was more of a drawing/pullling sensation) and that's when the piercing bars are pulled the rest of the way through while the jewelry is placed. It's very hard to describe the overall sensation for me, but a lot of that has to do with what my piercings represented to me, and the ritual-like experience all my body mod is to me. You probably saw it, but I explained a lil more in detail here:
http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52916
As far as aftereffects: the rest of that night they really didn't feel much. A little sore, but not bad. Honestly, the next day was the worst, they were fairly sore and sensitive. Most probably you will want to wear a bra pretty much around the clock for the first few days, especially sleeping! I never had any swelling that was noticeable. I am religious about cleaning and care for my piercings, the instructions on that really differ on artist to artist. I used a half and half mixture of betadine and sterile water to clean twice a day. As silly as you feel, those little plastic shot glasses from a clinic work really well to mix the solution in and hold against your breasts :) For the initial discomfort and to help keep some of that oozing/crusting that can occur, you can use something like a neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment. They also make ones which include a topical analgesic, like Neosporin Pain. Two very important things to remember about these though: you should use the clear gel type, NOT the white neosporin pain cream, and you should not use it longer than 10 days post-piercing. Beyond that it can actually inhibit healing, and constantly having that sticky goo on you actually will help attract things (like dirt and germs) to the area! And every time I took a shower, I would soap them up and slide the rings back and forth. Usually it's a good idea to avoid any strongly scented soaps here, go for milder ones definitely.
Sensitivity: Just one word on this-OHMYFUCKINGOD :D I have never had very sensitive nipples. Felt ok to have them played with, etc, but nothing earth shattering. After piercing them, they've pretty much turned into little instant wetness switches. No complaints on that one at all :)
Healing: My piercer told me it can usually be up to 6 months to totally and completely heal. It depends SO much on how you care for them. It's a good idea to avoid submersing them in hot tubs/jacuzzis for at least a couple months, he recommended 4months, but Ric always instructs on the side of caution :) Now, this is total healed, where you no longer get "crusties", you can move them around freely without needing to lubricate them first, etc. If you happen to catch them as you turn, or if they get a lot of action from vigorous teeth or something like that, they might revert a little, but that resolved quickly.
Infection: This is a tricky one, and one that health care professionals aren't the greatest at dealing with sometimes. If you do happen to get an infection (with the redness, swelling, heat and oozing of nasty stuff) most recommendations are NOT to remove the jewelry. Doing that removes the avenue of release for the gunk, and you increase risk of having it close off and taking more the form of an abcess, which may need lancing as part of the treatment. If this happens, revert back to the cleaning with an antibacterial of some sort (like that half/half of betadine or hibiclens with water) and make sure you do it AT LEAST twice a day. Keep cleaning and turning them with mild soap whenever you shower. Keep a clean bra on all the time. And as Cym said, NO touching except when cleaning (and make sure you wash your hands well every time before you clean them!). Hands are filthy, filthy things. Yes, you want to play with them all the time, but there's plenty of time for that after they're healed :)
Metals: This is a tricky one if you are sensitive to many metals. I know a lot of folks who are sensitive to metals who do really well with titanium/niobium jewelry. And it comes in such pretty colours too! ;) This is definitely something to discuss with your piercist beforehand, any reputable one should be able to offer help with ring selection.
Breastfeeding: I know noone asked about this topic, but it's one that was directly involved in my decision. I'd wanted mine done since I was old enough to get them done, but was really concerned about the breastfeeding issue. That was of paramount importance to me if I ever changed my mind and decided I wanted to bear children. I had heard mixed reports on whether this was effected by piercing or not--at the time noone had really "studied" it. Since then, it's been reviewed quite a bit, and there has been no correlation between piercing nipples and problems with milk expulsion. So if anyone is letting that hold them back....go for it! :) Of course you never want to feed with rings in, due to the freak possibility of it coming open and being swallowed, but it does not do enough 'damage' to inhibit milk flow. Just a lil side note there :)
Cost: Hell, I don't really remember on this one. I think it was like $70 for the whole thing, which included the piercing, the initial rings, and I also bought the rings I just upgraded to at that time. Got a pretty good discount altogether if you look at the separate costs of everything!
Man, this was a long post, might be a record for me! Hopefully it's been of assistance though! *hugs*
Mae
Sometimes I want mine pierced other times I go OUCHIE!
I think I might stick with a tongue piercing if I go that far......
Really Mistress, it's all about how you handle pain. I've had my ears lobes & cartiledge, bellybutton, nose and nips pierced.. the nips were the 'worst' pain~wise, but i'd do it again. All my piercings hurt that first initial minute, while the needle entered, and while they pulled it though with the new jewelry. The next day is usually a tender/sore day.. my belly and nips were tender for about 2 weeks following due to the clothes rubbing up against them.
It's funny, cuz the tongue is the absolute last place I will ever get pierced.. and I don't think I ever will. I am just too squeamish about needles being in my mouth.. I hate dentists for that reason.
Piercings, to me, aren't just about fad.. every piercing I've hever had (minus the ear lobes) happened during or after a tramatic or significant life change. The nose and nipples were because I needed some self-confirmation, or affirmation that I am a woman.. strong and proud and independant. (I know that may not make sense to anyone but me.) It is more of a rite-of-passage to me.
If I get the nerve to get pierced again, it'll be the hood. Ultra sexy!
Pain is an intensely individual concept. What i think of as "painful" may not be so to you. No one can tell whether a piercing will hurt you, not really. No one but you will feel that piercing on that day by that piercer in that one certain spot. Much depends on headspace, too.
Piercings, to me, are intensely emotional and bonding experiences that occur as part of the flow of wild sexuality between me and MS. How could that be painful in terms of scary and hurtful and something i don't want?
It's different for us all.
Know why you're doing it.
Appraoch the piercing bench with a good headspace. (Don't be drunk or stoned or hung over or [too] scared.)
Relax.
Feel it - give into the experience - go with the sensation.
Stay in the moment and remember it all because you probably won't be doing it that often again.
Or, maybe you will.
:cool:
i have been thinking about getting it done for a while now , the guy that lives upstairs is a professional and has offered to do it for me. cymbidias av has convinced me to get it done
Cym, you may be able to help.
How bout a scrotal piercing... where exactly and how.
That and I want to see a closeup of a hood piercing. Any idea of where I could find one?
Scrotal piercings
MS has them, usually three but sometimes more or less.
They're usually found along the midline of your scrotum anywhere from the base of your penis all the way around to where your scrotum ends back toward your anus. MS, for example, usually has his so that when he's standing there, bare-ass naked, you can see all three.
Scrotal piercings are often bars, too, instead of CBR's (captive bead rings) but that's a personal decision.
Since i have no scrotum i can't comment on the relative sensation of the pierce. MS always looks like he's having a pretty good time when he does them on himself and i watch the process.
Piercing, any piercing, anywhere on your body, is an intensity thing, right? It's a balancing act of intensity and sensation, and one of walking the fine edge between pain and incredibly triumphant and erotically powerful pleasure.
Ahem.
At least for us.
Pics?
We have lots of pics of his piercings, scrotal and nipple. And of mine. Of course, i'll have to ask him first if i can send them to you or post them in the pics thread we have in the How To... forum.
Alternatively, go to www.bmezine.com and look there.
Ought to be an eye opener for you.
Almost all nipple shields are intricate - or plain - pieces of finely crafted and machined metal that are slipped onto the nipple much as a ring goes on a finger. They are held on by your piercing jewelry (either a bar or a CBR) pressing againt them crosswise and not allowing them to slip off. They're decorative. They're gorgeous. They're fun. MS made some for us to play with. (He can make anything.)
pabloback.. cym's av is a nipple shield, not a piercing.. but it still looks awesome though! if you go though w/ the piercing, i'd like to see pics :D
.
if i am not mistaken the nipple shield is held on with a bar [at least i think that is what cym said]
any way i want one and i am gonna get one
Oops, my bad.. sorry Pablo/ cym.. the site where I saw those shields said that they can be held on just like a ring to a finger... AND/OR with a piercing.
I can't make out a piercing on cym's av, just the shield.. sorry, i'm blind.
Cym... I cant get into bme to see the piercings I want to... could you please ask MS to maybe hide some away for me cause I got no chance of seeing otherwise.
Good egg.
I think I'd rather a ring, not a bar.
