We've got a new cat! As some of you might remember, we lost one of cats, Zandra, to breast cancer on 5-15, and recently, decided we were ready to adopt another one. So we went to a no-kill shelter in town and found Ziba, who was described as an Abyssinian blend (although there might be an Ocicat in the woodpile somewhere) and is certainly as much Aby as you can get for $30 (adoption fee).
She is a charming little beast, all different shades of fawn and red-brown and brown and orange, kind of Florida-panther colored, with gold-brown stripes on her legs and rings at the end of her tail like a lemur.
Originally her name was Sweetie, but we felt that was a lame name for a cat, and so far we've managed to fix it so most of our cats had names beginning with Z. She is a sweetie, but Ziba is Farsi (and maybe Arabic) for beautiful which fits her. She is a friendly outgoing animal. I need to get a picture of her so y'all can see her. Zoey (the cat who's my current avatar) isn't best pleased but they have not come to blows and she is learning to deal.
She has some of the charming (and not so charming) attributes of past cats I've known and loved. She trills and chirps, like Zappa, the cat my husband got me for my birthday the year we got married and was with me for almost 19 years. She also likes to stick her head in your drink if you don't watch out, like Zandra did.
I anticipate years of cat stories from my new kitty.
