We've got a new cat! As some of you might remember, we lost one of cats, Zandra, to breast cancer on 5-15, and recently, decided we were ready to adopt another one. So we went to a no-kill shelter in town and found Ziba, who was described as an Abyssinian blend (although there might be an Ocicat in the woodpile somewhere) and is certainly as much Aby as you can get for $30 (adoption fee).

She is a charming little beast, all different shades of fawn and red-brown and brown and orange, kind of Florida-panther colored, with gold-brown stripes on her legs and rings at the end of her tail like a lemur.

Originally her name was Sweetie, but we felt that was a lame name for a cat, and so far we've managed to fix it so most of our cats had names beginning with Z. She is a sweetie, but Ziba is Farsi (and maybe Arabic) for beautiful which fits her. She is a friendly outgoing animal. I need to get a picture of her so y'all can see her. Zoey (the cat who's my current avatar) isn't best pleased but they have not come to blows and she is learning to deal.

She has some of the charming (and not so charming) attributes of past cats I've known and loved. She trills and chirps, like Zappa, the cat my husband got me for my birthday the year we got married and was with me for almost 19 years. She also likes to stick her head in your drink if you don't watch out, like Zandra did.

I anticipate years of cat stories from my new kitty.

Speaking of cat stories, 2 ideas;

1) an erotic encounter between a person who found themselves turned into a cat, and a real cat - communication could exist or not between the cats. Might be real interesting to hear the thoughts that went throught the person's mind.

2) stories told throught the eyes of the cat about erotic couplings, exhibitionism, etc.

always trying for purrfection

Dear ff,
How about a series called "Litter Box Tales" for the (s)cat lovers.

Ps. Congratulations, Tony, on your new cat. Could you use a dog? I could get a beagle for you cheap.

For Research, watch "Oh, Heavenly Dog!" released in 1980, starring Chevy Chase/Benji as Browning, a Private Investigator with a bad cold and a new case that leaves him dead, then returned as a dog, to investigate his own murder. Jane Seymour co-stars as an investigative reporter researching the case for a book she has been assigned to write.

Also, “You Never Can Tell” released in 1951, starring Dick Powell as a murdered dog who comes back as Private Detective Rex Shepherd. Co-star, Joyce Holden plays Goldie Harvest, a former race horse who accompanies Shepherd, as his secretary.

The idea is old stuff, but the erotica is a new angle.

MG, if I weren't married, I'd propose (of course it would have to be something geometric in proportions and substantial in scope). I love your responses (even those you publish in these thread bare coverings). Let's see what that brings.

“You Never Can Tell” is a great and funny movie.

Definately congradulations on the newest edition to the household!
Is the picture under your name the newest? She/he? Looks adorable!

I bet she does the Zen Shadow thing when it gets dark right? Basically she walks into a shadow and disappears until she moves into the light again. I have a dog that does that. Even though he has this huge spot of wh ite on his chest, he always disappears.

As for movies from a feline/dog perspective, watch Homeward Bound parts 1&2 along with Cats and Dogs.

Both are pretty good for that. hehehe

Keep in touch,
BardsLady:rose:

Tony that's great!

We have a no-kill shelter a couple hours away, and if I ever get another cat, that's where I'm going. (Mogwai, the cat in my av, just happened to find us, and one of my other cats is Mog's daughter)

I love when cats chirp = )

yo

Nice one Tony, welcome to your new moggy from Monty, he chirps a lot as well.

Congratulations! A warm pussy is always a welcome addition in any house (though I'm a dog fancier myself). And Ziba is a cool name -- I've always thought the best thing you can do for a pet is to give it a really great name. Since you're going to be saying it a lot, especially when it's young, you might as well enjoy the sound of it. :)

Congrats again, and I hope you bring each other great happiness...

Thanks everybody for the congrats!

Actually, the cat accompanying my sig is Zoey, the Tuxedo cat, who weighed in at 16+ lbs. when taken to the vet this Saturday--one of her nicknames is Ms. Doublewide. I plan to take some pictures of Ziba in the next few days. Maybe she'll be easier to photograph than Zoey is, or Zandra was--black cats, and mostly black cats, are infamously hard to light.

Thanks for the offer of the Beagle, Mathgirl--I'm sure it's a charming dog; Beagles have the prettiest faces. However, we found out a long time ago that we're not dog people--we can't give a dog the supervision it needs. I managed to housebreak both my children, and that was enough--my cats' mommas trained them. Also, I think both the Z girls would get bent out of shape.

I enjoyed seeing all the pictures of all the pussies here ;)

Bubba, Butsy, Bobo, and Flynn (I named him, the others strangely enough came with those names.) all send their congratulations on your new addition. Bobo came from a no kill shelter too. It's a great place and we try to support them with donations as much as possible, but I brave the pound usually to find my animals since I know those guys don't have much chance otherwise.

Thanks, everyone, for your congratulations. Ziba is adjusting to our family...and our family is adjusting to her. For one thing, we've started to use sports bottles and sippy tops on our cups. She can't ever see a glass of anything sitting out without sticking her head into it or just putting a paw in it and pulling it over.
