I thought I'd share this news

Thank you! You would be welcome to pass it along to the GLBT forum as well :rose:
You can do that, if you want. They don't know me over there and a post from me might be seen as spam and not even get views.

I just thought it was a great decision in a very conservative state to see them do the right thing, even when laws didn't require it.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have expected that kind of response from the KSC had I previously been aware of the case. From the portions of the opinion quoted/paraphrased in the article, however, it appears that the court took a child-friendly "conservative" approach, putting the children's welfare above the selfish wishes of one of the kids' mothers and essentially noting that while the law didn't *require* them to make that decision, the public welfare, and especially the welfare of the children, did, so the system worked, IMNSHO, as it should, but often doesn't.

Kudos to the Kansas Supreme Court for applying common sense, compassion, and caring to a case that could have set children's rights back by decades.

Responsibilities go along with rights.

For the court to assume that same-sex-parenthood is a responsibility, means they are taking us seriously.

For the court to assume that same-sex-parenthood is a responsibility, means they are taking us seriously.

Which is exactly the reason Gov. Brownback is working so hard to have the the State of Kansas change how appeals court judges are nominated and approved to give him more power in the matter.

Of course Brownback wants to change the courts. He want us all to live by his Catholic beliefs. If we happen to be lesbian, gay, bi or trans, we are immoral sinners. Not only that we also defy natural law.

If it wasn't so pathetic it would be funny because he doesn't even know Catholic doctrine, XXXX-Catholic by the way, it's not a sin to be lesbian, gay, bi or trans it's only a sin to act upon it by having sex. And unless he's only had sex to make babies he's also considered a sinner. WHAT THE HELL ISN'T A SIN TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?????

I guess he'll be in hell with all the rest of us sinners.

Jackass

The ruling is good news but at times I just get so tired of the struggle.
