I am not much of a pastry chef....or baker for that matter. Everything else I am at least competent to 'advanced' (charitable)...but all my attempts for the delicate like fritters and pastries wind up either too doughy or too dried out....tying this all back to the post:

see, therein lies the magic of puff pastry. all you have to do is unroll it, cut it, brush a little egg wash on it so it gets pretty while it bakes and pop it in the oven.

Yea, that's more what I am looking for. Not that I am against short cuts in the kitchen, for me, the real 'joy' in cooking (in all forms) is making things from scratch...from the most base elements to the complex, and hopefully, delicious end result

I couldn't agree more I'll forward you the recipe if you like, but you'd better put on your baking mitts cuz making a good danish dough is as hard as making a puff pastry dough from scratch (meaning: it's not easy )
