Reading the last thread started by Ishmeal got me once again contemplating how many Litters here would end up on suicide watch if the forum was to suddenly experience a database corruption, be deleted and started over from scratch.

Few.

Departed posters tell me LIT is boring as death, and its true. Its the 50 SHADES of online porn.

It would be like the Simpson's episode where the kids stop watching the Itchy & Scratchy show and go outside and play.

Interesting that you would single me out considering there are posters here that are FAR more prolific than I am. Am I living rent free in your head or something?

Ishmael

I can picture them lying screaming on the floor and beating the carpet with their fists .

I thought that was odd too. I think I'm here more than you lately, and I would hardly call myself a prolific poster.

My comment wasn't so much about post quantity.

I say it had more to do with time and energy invested in using said posts to reinforce the ceiling of some fantasy world where important shit supposedly happens. Like timbers in a mine shaft. It all would seemingly collapse without some people.

I get it now. I'm not sure Ish is the poster child though. But I get your drift.

little kitties? how adorable

She had them in the wall of my chicken house. Would crawl up fifteen feet to a hole in the second story. Mama's a daredevil.

She once walked up a grain elevator onto the roof of the corn crib and jumped off to get down, which is about a 25 ft drop.

I'm sure it's different for those who got bored of Lit to the point of wandering off.

That demonstrates a measure of self control. And lack of concern over what has been posted, is being posted and will be posted.

Yet you are here posting.

I mostly post in the Poetry forum. Whatever poetry I have posted on this side of Lit is redundantly backed up elsewhere. I come to the GeeB only when I'm plain bored and because of my short attention span ( or perhaps undiagnosed ADD), I don't stay long.

So if this entire forum experienced an unrecoverable meltdown and became a blank slate, I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep. And not because I have a cache of screenshots and saved webpages either like Eyer.

Lit can be habit forming.

A couple of times when I was in the middle of a project I took "lit offs" a couple of weeks without posting at all.

The first couple of days are tough because it was habit in between writing/editing to click on the boards and see what was up.

Got to where I removed it from my bookmarked links. But like anything else after a few days you get used to it.

But some of the people here, the 40+ post a day types...I think would really be lost without it.

There are some here that really seem to think they are "someone" here and I think they would get hurt the most.

The Poetry Bored is like a near death experience.

So you're wondering what would happen if people lost their posting history and not so much if they lost this place all together?

The regulars would still know each other and know who they have a beef with and who's ass they're supposed to be kissing.

And nothing in this place is ever truly lost forever- too many people here in the habit of taking screenshots.

I heard that the Suicide Hotlines had to recruit extra helpers on May 5th.

Overwhelmed with anxious LitSters who couldn't post.
