Libya is exchanging intelligence about the al-Qaeda network with the United States, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has said.

Colonel Gaddafi said there were what he called Libyan terrorists in the US and Britain, and they should be "wiped out".

"[Fundamentalism] is a threat to all regimes in the region," he said.

What a strange World we live in....

Libya 'gives US tips on al-Qaeda'

In an interview with Muammar Quadaffi:

You must know Saddam?
I know him well.

Is he rational?
I don’t think so.

What’s your opinion of bin Laden?
In the Islamic world, he has become a prophet, and all the young people like him.

Is that a threat to you?
Of course.

There have been assassination attempts on you in the past, isn’t that so?
Yes. These were made by Qaeda members.

Do you believe that Saudi Arabia is doing all it can to fight terrorism?
Saudi Arabia is a fundamentalist state itself.

Are you providing the U.S. and other intelligence agencies with information on Al Qaeda?
Intelligence agencies in Libya and the U.S. are exchanging information. There are Libyan terrorists in America and in Britain. The Libyan intelligence service exchanges information [with Britain and the United States] so that they will be wiped out.

some questions i'd like asked...
"why in the flying fuck should we trust you?"
"didn't bin laden reside in libya for a time in the 80's?"
"what is the state of islam in libya right now?"
"why are you announcing this publically?"

i also wonder what the us and britain will have to say aboutthis.

"didn't bin laden reside in libya for a time in the 80's?"

No Bin Laden resided in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and then Sudan, and then Afghanistan again.

"what is the state of islam in libya right now?"

Libya is an Arab secular socialist republic, Muammar came out with his own novel called The Green Book about his philosophy on life, government, capitalism, the economy, and how to rule a country. Islam may be the national religion but it has no bearing on the government of Libya. Case in point, the very (full) name of Libya is a good indicator of the type of government it has: Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. The 2003 Almanac describes their form of government type as a
Islamic Arabic Socialist "Mass State"
.

The women of Libya are by far the freest in the whole Arab, and indeed Muslim world. In fact, Muammar Khadaffi is personally protected by highly-trained, beautiful female bodyguards that he is fond of bragging are the descendants of Amazonians.

"why are you announcing this publically?"

Why not? He is likes attention, wants to re-establish ties with the West, and hates Islamic fundamentalism.

"And where did you get that cool purple outfit?"
The Berbers; he does have a unique sense of style.
Muammar Quadaffi is very flamboyant and likes colorful cloths and extravagant entrances.

I think it was the British who blew up Quadaffi's car.

I thought the guy mellowed out since adopting Mandella as a guru...

"Say, that raised-hand peace sign is a heart-tugging touch. Where did you learn that?"

If I recall correctly, after Sept 11 he was also one of the first Arab leaders to offer support to the US in tracking down terrorist cells. They don't say 'politics makes strange bedfellows' for nothing, now do they.

Like John Major and beautiful Edwina...

hang on, i'm relatively sure there was a connection between bin laden and libya.

moreover i remember libya having something to do with the achille lauro ( i can't spell) or another terrorist act around that time.

Yeah, Bin laden funded Islamic Fundamentalists tried to assassinate him three times between 1995 and 1998 and almost succeeded once allegedly shooting him and gravely wounded him for a time before he healed-up somewhat in a Hospital.

Good Topic Fri. You got a link for the interview(s).

Khaddaffi (no correct spelling of his last name) has embraced Capitalism to a degree. He has built up his infrastructure and is planning 30-50 years ahead for growth. He plans on developing tourism. Should be a dynamic change for the area.
