Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst has revealed plans to move to Crimea and produce film and TV content there, according to Russian media reports.

Durst responded to Crimean authorities' recent call on Western celebrities to obtain residence in the territory, the Russian daily Izvestia reported.

Last month, Sergey Aksyonov, head of Crimea, published an open letter, in which he promised to turn the Black Sea peninsular region into "the new Beverly Hills." Later, mayors of the resort towns Yevpatoria, Feodosiya and Yalta spoke about granting land to build a compound for Western celebrities, who would obtain free housing as long as they took part in the region's international promotion.

According to Izvestia, Durst sent a letter to Crimean authorities, in which he said that he was interested in spending half of the year in the region, producing films and TV series that would take Russia to a new level in the industry, also working for a "great future of Crimea and Russia."

I've been hoping for an end to the violence in that part of the world, but this may make me change my mind.

I'm not entirely sure that forcing a 'status quo' by way of importing western celebrities to a then 'dormant' Russian Crimea is cool, but that's me.

For all I wish violence to end in the area, I have some former colleagues of mine who are reservists in the Ukrainian army, I'm not sure if such should happen thanks to a virtually created situation - a situation basically using the star power of 'new celebrity inhabitants' to feign peace. A peace which in this case would consolidate the Russian claim in the Crimea btw.

The hypocrisy is strong in that one.

And Durst once again just continues to strike me as so often before... not being the smartest cookie in the drawer.

I guess we could do this. I'm all about getting works from more parts of the world brought to the forefront. I think we've just about tapped out European Fairy Tails, Anime may not be "mainstream" yet but we're getting there. Getting a taste of Russian mythology and culture can't hurt anything.
