deciding which classes to take next semester... i've already decided on a few, but there's still 2 more to pick..

the ones i'm definitely taking.. linear algebra, stats, and econ

which would you pick between:
for programming.. C++ or Visual Basic
for a gen ed.. accounting or women's studies?

Take Accounting only as a LAST resort. I wouldn;t recommend Womens Studies either, but I'm a guy, so that opinion probably won't mean much to you. How about a nice History course?

I've taken 3 of the 4 course (didn't take C++). I'd recommend Visual Basic (I loved the course, but remember, I didn't take C++), and Women's Studies over Accounting. Accounting is just boring - and what they teach you is really not anything like what really occurs in RL. Women's Studies was something I thought would be boring, and turned out to be quite interesting. (even though my b/f at the time told me I was wasting my time by making cracks that it would only be a class about shopping and nail polish colors - HRUMPH!)

Can't help the obvious

You need more than help, W&U.:p

I'd recommend Visual Basic and Women's studies. Visual Basic has some interesting applications, and I found it to be very interesting. Women's Studies I found to be an enjoyable course, especially if you get a good prof.

I've never taken any programming courses, so I'll leave that to everyone else.

Which courses sound more interesting to you, though? You're going to be stuck in them all semester, so you ought to pick something you enjoy.

I'm a math person, so I'd probably pick accounting. But, do what sounds more intersting to you. Stat, a programming course and accounting might be too much math for some people. Women's Studies could be an interesting course, too.

well.. i'm kind of undecided at the moment.. i'm currently in engineering but will be changing that soon.. i will be going either to actuarial sciences or computer engineering technology.. as for the programming languages, i have learned C, some Unix, and Matlab (if you consider that).. i dont think it'll be too bad for me.. i ended up registering for linear algebra, stats, econ, accounting, intro to computers, and intro to Visual Basic

WELL

stick with your strengths.
i never went to college but i was always good at math.

I would generally agree with Guru..........as for accounting or Women's Studies.....I have no clue what Women's Studies would be about, and I am a math guy........so I would take accounting for the halibut, but accounting classes are boring and it is not Trig or Calculus or like that..........so it would be a toss up between Womens studies and Accounting, do they offer Studying Men? Maybe you could take a class Studying Men.....LOL

Take the accounting course. It is practical and will help you in almost any job you have in the future.

I work in a company full of various managers in different types of operations. Some are very good at what they do, but they suck at understanding their financial statements and how to use them to help make business decisions. They are good, but could be so much better. The ones who understand even basic accounting have a leg up on those that are in the dark.

Do you even have to ask..........LOL

Womens studies.............of course. Just be careful of the guys that take that course. I know some friends of mine to it just to meet girls. They were often roasted in class though. *wink*. However they did tell me that it was an interesting course. Even though thier motives for taking the class were wrong. Good luck Hon'.

Well...you're CERTAINLY not good at English. j/k

VB is handy but I don't think you need to bother taking a course in it to learn it. C++ is convoluted, but it gives you more flexibility... and it's *much* harder to learn from a book.

I'd choose C++, but that's a matter of taste. :)

I hope you don't mind me saying so, but your boyfriend at the time sounds like a jerk.

Take Underwater Basket Weaving, like I did. You are sure to get a job in Parlaiment with a degree like that. It is sooooo easy. ;)

It all depends on your tastes. I think you're the only one who can answer you're own question.

But I know C and C++ and not a bit of VB, and I've never had any trouble finding a job. VB is easy and you could likely learn in on your own.

As for accounting. I loathe it (and I like math!). You may like it. I dunno. Women's Studies sounds okay, though.

You must first figure out what interests you, as far as occupational. I would hate for you to go through what I went through in college. I spent years in college taking business courses in order to major in Accounting. But I later found my calling (which was advised to me in high school) and began majoring in Journalism. Only to drop out of college later.
But I'm feeling real good about myself today.

Math is actually a very small part of accounting, once you get past the basics. You don't really need much math past alegbra to be successful in accounting. For a basic accounting course though, yes, it will have math in it for you to learn the fundamentals of debits and credits and double entry accounting.
