I might return to erotica

I certainly don't tell some of my mainstream publishers that I also write erotica. There's one, though, who does pen name mainstreams for me so that the royalties on all of my erotica can come in looking like they are for that mainstream series. (My accountant doesn't know I write erotica either.)

It is to be hoped that the accountant does not either write erotica or have a friend who does.
~That might be embarrassing

Since my editor for everything that will be sold also works for my main publisher, she sees everything I write. They know that she found me on an erotic site so... They live with it as long as I keep things separate.

What they don't take gets sent to another company who is doing some edgier stuff under a second name. It's not full fade to black but is still rather tame. In any case it is advancing even if slightly sideways. Since 50 Shades, they are looking into the sales numbers and know that I will work with them.

A win win in both cases.

You guys do know I want to write erotica for fun, right? My kaiju project is my main thing, but it's part of a vast network of stuff that happens in my brain. And lately, I've been thinking about doing sex stories.

I'm inching a bit closer for some ideas, but I'm also keeping a steady pace as well. Mostly, it is because my computer is acting up (it's 5 years old, so it's probably time for a update soon) as well as other distractions (mostly work).

My other, albeit minor, issue is mainly if I should try to be realistic with my stories or try to "porn write" it. Mainly if one action that would be consider, say, rape-ish should be done, but maybe done in a way that might imply that rape didn't happen.

Case in point, a boss (or employee) catches the other watching pornography and decides to blackmail the boss/employee using sex.

If the employee/boss acceded to blackmail, that would constitute agreement to the sex, thus not rape. In fact, at Literotica, a sexual act could start without consent and if there was some sign that the one being assaulted enjoyed it/acceded to it before it was completed, that would be publishable here.

In general, though, I suggest you write up whatever you're thinking of getting into the story and reform it in whatever direction you want to take from there. The first step is to get something out of your head and into a file.

Realistic or not should come down to the body of the work. Does it make sense for realism? Does it enhance the story to break some normalcy? Do what feels right to you as the author and as long as you enjoy what you write your work will find an audience. Also, always do it for fun! I hope you give it a shot and send me a link so I can see too!

I guess the main thing that bug me is whether I go with the thought of writing a story with real characters that happens to include graphic sex scenes or essentially typing out porno. True, both would work, but that is a personal choice. Of course, I could make a story which is in the middle ground, like the focus is on the concept of the sex, but there is a actual story built around it.

If anything, I will work out a concept that works for me, and build it up slowly. Also, I need to work on my confidence issues with my writing abilities, because I do believe I'm not a very good storyteller.

I suggest that you think first of the story; beginning, middle & end.
Write it, edit it, (give it to a beta reader or editor), [so you gain confidence in your writing]:
THEN think about the sex content.

ideas are forming, now I just need time to write them down. Of course, keep in mind that I have other interests and my plains can change.
