I just got back from watching Boston's fireworks. Wow! It's been a few years since I actually went to see fireworks, since I really don't like crowds. But I'm glad I went.

Maybe I should quit rocket science and do fireworks. Oh wait, fireworks are just rockets that blow up on purpose (and pretty instead of destructive).

I saw a very nice show last night at a small township celebration. The fireworks were being set off about 100 yards from our position, so they looked absolutely enormous (and were loud as hell). It was beautiful and fun (especially watching them over the shoulder of the drummer as he was playing). However, the idiots next door setting off fireworks until midnight (some of them so loud the make the house rumble) are scaring the hell out of our dogs. Where's a hand-amputating accident when you need one.

We had a monsoon pass through... the only fireworks in the desert are those that came from nature unfortunately. (However, those are quite spectacular in and of themselves.)

Yeah, I'm getting some of those morons now. It was bad enough when they were setting them off in the park across the street (really a playground) earlier today, but at 1am?

I used to love watching fireworks...now I prefer watching how they are made.

On PBS tonight there was a special about fireworks for the Washington D.C. July 4th show. The fireworks for that show came from China.

Oh and they aren't rockets, they are mortar shells. The Shells are propelled into the air by an explosive charge attached to the bottom. So there is not really any rocketry involved. Just plain explosive science, which I guess rocketry falls into.
