I just submitted my first story!

I felt excited and happy that it was received fairly well. I got a few comments slating it from people who apparently didn't bother to read the tags and aren't into femdom but most people thought it was good.

I'm so excited. I just submitted my first story here. I really hope people like it, once it is published.

How did other authors feel when you submitted your first stories? What was your experience like?

You might get more traction over in the Feedback Forum. This Story Discussion forum is a bit of a deadwater. Once your story is published, I'd start a new thread there, then like this thread to that one. I think you'll get more activity in the other forum.

Don't count on that. I posted a thread that got moved there asking for feedback on my story so far. Not one reply.

The Feedback Forum has more recent activity. My suggestion is based on watching both forums since 2014, and seeing the relative traffic.

I agree, the Feedback Forum is still not massive, but it's still more than this Story Discussion forum has ever seen.

Edit: I thought this thread was in the Study Discussion forum - or I missed it get moved

I agree, it is very exciting both to see if the story will be accepted (and that can take a while) and then the reaction. Good luck. Put a link to your works in your sig here, which makes it easier to actually find you.

Yay! Welcome!

I remember when my first went live. I was giddy with excitement and was refreshing my author’s panel going oh shit people are reading it! It was such a high. To some extent it still is, but having a better grasp of what to expect with any given story dampens it somewhat.

Congratulations, and welcome on board! Stick around for a while, most people here are helpful and friendly.

It was exciting. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't realise that a year later I'd be spending far too much time writing and publishing erotica, and agonising over my stories' reception, and thinking about the mechanics of writing orgasms.

Not to mention trying to get others to share in your navel-gazing tendencies!

My first story took forever to get published, so naturally I obsessively refreshed the works page for days until it went live. When it went live though, the feedback was generally positive. Just submitted my second chapter. So I've gone back to obsessively refreshing the page until it's published. Life is fun.

Congratulations! Time to pop the champagne. I was very excited when I did it the first time. It was the first work of fiction I'd actually written my entire adult life. I was disappointed in its reception, but I kept at it and have had a great time publishing stories here.

✨✨Yayyy✨✨
It's great that you are one of us..
I had help writing my first few stories, and i was hesitant to submit for fear of failure.
My stories are always short, and I got a few negative comments privately about that.

Now i think the people that follow me are used to my style😜

If it gets sent back for any reason, (mine used to), it's fine. It's constructive criticism.
It's too help you get published.

Again...
✨✨Yayy✨✨

Congrats! I also just shared my first story and it went live yesterday. I have posted before on other sites but never got any traction/feedback. Finding a place where your writing feels like it actually belongs is really nice. Hopefully the momentum and good feels continue for us both!

Oh man I feel this!! I checked everyday for a week until Friday, and then I figured the earliest it would be published would be Monday. It went live on Sunday though! It seems like a week is standard right now based off what others have posted. I am not sure if its just a busy time of year?

Yeah. Seems to be. Also, my author account isn't even officially a month old, so they've pushed me to the back for sure. Lol

I felt a cocktail of emotions. I was excited but it was mostly relief that I had finally published. There was a little anxiety not knowing if it would fly. More than a 100 chapters later I still have those feelings. Good luck.

Thanks. I realized that after posting this thread here. Will do! :)
