I hit submit (six times, one for each part) on my first novel 😳

It’s worse than that! I was a bad girl and clicked on each pending entry - to get the ref numbers to bother Laurel with them. It could presage the end of the Universe.

You've reset the clock so much you've traveled back in time!

Hey, wait, I might have an idea for a story now...

Six submissions, six rejections 😱.

But… all for my customary spoofing of story URLs to do ā€œContinued inā€¦ā€ links.

But the response was specific and not boilerplate, so a human actually read at least some of the text 🄳.

Have fixed and resubmitted.

I got one rejection for having a "URL" though it was actually a gmail address - it was a fake address, for a fake character's fake business but it was a real gmail account. I redacted it, resubmitted, and it was approved same day.

Parts I and II scheduled for November 1st and 2nd… hopefully the rest to follow with a new part each day 😊.

How soon was that after submitting?

Congrats on getting publishing dates, by the way.

How do you create your own URL for the "continued in" section? I have my first ever two part story and was trying to figure that out.

You have to guess what the URL of the story will be and use that. But the site gets twitchy about it. They have some reason. I had a case when there was another story with the same title as me and somehow the URLs got crossed - so my story was continuing theirs and vice versa.

They’ve kinda indulged me before, but seem to be a bit less flexible now. It’s no biggie.

What you can do is publish a minor edit with the actual URL once all the parts are published.

If the chapter titles have the same leading text followed by Ch.01, Ch.02 the site joins them together automatically.

Title Title
Title Title Ch.02
Title Title Ch.03

Title Title - Annie
Title Title - Billy
Title Title - Charlie

It's an alphanumeric sort algorithm. Alternatively, you can use the Manual Series function, but that takes a while. The auto-sequencing runs daily.

See my story catalogue for examples of both methods:

I see what you did on the user end, but how did you generate the links before the second chapter was even published? It wouldn't be a valid link then, would it?
I guessed it based on how things normally go. I get it right like 90% of the time, but the site isn’t a fan of me doing it.

It’s a dystopian SciFi with a lesbian love story intertwined between many events and with some hetero sex along the way. Not sure whether it will make it over @THBGato’s bar for reading!
I don't think my bar should be any kind of yardstick to measure by. Have I inadvertently made a rod for my own back?

Anyway, I'm sure I'll at least give Chapter 1 a twirl...

The rejections were within an hour. Parts I to III (another one now) approved for publishing within an hour of me resubmitting. Parts IV - VI still pending.
Huh, wow. Well, you do seem to have a shortcut to Laurel.

I am curious to figure out the workings of these new publishing practices. They seem to be too much on the extreme right now. A couple of hours vs weeks or months. I'm now wondering what to do as I'm about to enter day six of pending. I'll likely wait one more day and then resubmit and leave it there indefinitely.

I hoped for my story to premiere here, but after some consideration, I've decided to submit it to SOL, so I guess it'll come out there first... if it even comes out here at all. šŸ˜„

Congrats once again. I'm glad to hear that the site is working for someone, at least.

SOL is much, much faster to get stuff approved (my last submission was within 3 hours) and they don't really restrict anything but their readership is way, way, waaaaay lower than here.

The interface and website visibility are SOL's greatest issues. I've seen no indication that they were gonna improve there.

But it's too bad that there isn't more competition for Lit. Things would be different then.
