OK some of you wonder why I cared in the first place. I was 12 years old when it opened and was like nothing like I had ever seen or imagined. Until the last few years I
loved the place.

Hate me if you must. I get it.

Now you must make reservation from rides and eating 6 months in advance. This is offered as a way to make sure you get what you want. You also have to be online at the 6 month window to really get what you want. Many fail.

This is not my idea of a vacation. Basically my idea of a vacation is not appointment oriented. That makes it no fun for me. This also goes for cruises.

What about you? What is your vacation?

Vacation to me is getting away from it all. Work. Stress. That sort of thing. People with kids are more limited in what they can do and vacations with kids can require more planning.

I have never been to Disney World and have no intention of ever going. The House of Mouse is aimed at kids and there will always be swarms of them there. Not my idea of fun. Although I do love amusement parks.

My idea of a vacation is simply relaxing. Doing what I want to do. I'm on vacation right now. I feel like I should have gone somewhere special but there's just not that much out there that interests me to go do. So here I am, sitting at home, watching videos, playing games, posting on Lit and basically just enjoying myself as much as possible.

My vacation is going north. Camping as rough as possible. Difficult to do as all my fishing buddies prefer some luxury. The cabin up north started as a cook shack. Now their are 3 buildings, sleeps 16 and has indoor flushing toilets, electricity and refrigerators.

For a few years we did a trip to Georgian Bay and camped on last island that had trees on it. 12 guys for 2 weeks. Stomp about for first few days to scare of the rattlers and keep food out of tents due to bears. A tent and a sleeping bag.

Why would anyone want to go south where it is heavily populated and stinking hot?!

I've spent 3 of the lat 4 vacations in the hospital. This fall was the first vacation in a long time so I went to the beach.

A European vacation might be different. Lots of history there to see and experience. Except for maybe Quebec City NA is not old enough for truly inspiring historical sites.

Still likely to just spend my time fishing.

I don't need to leave my town to see Anglo-Saxon and Roman remains. I can find fossils without much effort.

Within a fifteen mile radius there are three World Heritage Sites, five Museums, several Art galleries, two Zoos and some stately homes including one visited by Jane Austen.

My grandchildren have been to Disney Paris. I can be in France nearly as quickly as I could be in London, and in Paris by car by the afternoon, or even quicker by train.

Several of my neighbours go to France for an evening meal. Why not? If you want French cooking, why go to a French themed restaurant locally when you can have the real thing in France?

Within 100 mile radius... 1812 history stuff. A few native archeological digs. And just sites no buildings except for replicas. 610 miles to Quebec City and stuff dating back to 1600s.

200 miles just get to good camping country. 300 for the true northern country.

100 miles in any direction of just flat farmland and a few warm water fishing rivers. We do have some nice sand beaches if that is what you like for a vacation. But they are more day trips than extended vacations.

Canada's Wonderland is in T.O. Close enough to a Disney type park.

If I went to Florida it would be for the fishing or the space port. No interest in Las Vegas.

Camping is what we did as a family. New immigrants travelling about Ontario. It can be cheap too.

T.O. is first decent museum too.

It is puzzling, that Disney did not expand by taking over amusement parks.

Small satellite Disney parks, near populated areas would be welcome.

There has been no slow down in the production of children, on this coast.

As it is, the ritual of taking the younglings to Disney is continuing...

I like golf. But I hate the heat, and of course you can't play very well in the winter when the ground's frozen. So my golf season was basically four months in the spring and two months in the fall, with only a few days in the summer.

But I just bought a second home in a gated community down south. It's like a four-star resort practically. I'll commute back north for the summers, but I will now have a continuous 9-month golf season plus a lot more club and other social activities when I snowbird south.

Talk about a vacation!!

I gave up on Disney when they rebooted my fave Disney movie and ruined it:rolleyes:

It's the mandatory 500 ft that has soured the OP on Happiest Place on Earth.

We're going in February. Went in November 2015 as well.

Funny you post this, my girlfriend has her list of rides and attractions to fast pass her 60 day window opens tomorrow at 7AM. lol

She has all our dining plans made.....You can do that 180 days out.

I went when I was 13 haven't been back since. Space mountain and haunted mansion were my faves. Universal studios back then had no rides other than the back to future. Never got to Epcot. Got stuck on small world ride:eek: and got in a fight with adult on the drive yer car around a track and refused to back down funtimes:D

I think you have to do the same thing if you want to camp in the backwoods of any national park.

I do make reservations for where I will sleep. I don't want to figure that out everyday. It's not the same as having each day scheduled for food and entertainment.

Drive 'til the cell's don't get service
Pitch tent
Light fire
Eat, drink, fish, laugh (if seasonally appropriate hunt).
