....I'm gonna buy the BBC Collector's Edition DVD of Blackadder. Hehe, all seasons plus the two specials. hooray.

I don't care how much it costs me.

Snoopy, happy Beagle

Good idea.
I have the second series. Bought it to educate the kids, they love it.
Favourite was the last series, especially the last episode.
Did it air on the other side of the pond?

It was once aired on a smaller german-french channel in english with subtitles. (good idea)
it was later aired on a big german channel dubbed in german (very bad idea) But I never taped it and now need to have it. I will have to pay a fortune but it's worth it

Would the Americans appreciate it?
British humour doesn't always travel well.

I can't believe it. I mean the english humor is too special for americans i guess.

But they surely are missing out on sth.

Lysande, Sickan!

I like Black Adder. The humour, the insults!

"Baldrick, you wouldn't recognize a cunning plan if it painted itself green and danced naked in front of you singing 'cunning plans are here again'!"

"My father was a nun"

- "No he wasn't!"

"Yes, he was. Everytime he was asked for his job, he said none"

Snoopy, :D

Snoopy - have you already ordered it? Because I can get hold of one riddiculously cheap and send it your way if you like - there's a specialist shop which has unfortunately gone a bit bust in my University town and they're selling everything off...

Aaaaaahhh, too bad, I already ordered it. But thnx for thinking of that. :) *kiss*

It's well worth the money. Well, it's well worth what it cost me - some charming people gave it to me for a gift. :D But I would have paid the price gladly.

ok, to you people who alreadyy own it?

Are there english subtitles to it? is there any bonus at all?

Snoopy

Do NOT put those expensive DVDs in the hot, orange-y thing under the mantle.

Uh-oh. I feel a bout of recitations-from-memory coming on...

Famine and pestilence stalk the land like two giant...stalking things.

Prince Thick-As-A-Whale-Omelette

I would buy a DVD compilation of Blackadder's similes. He had such nice, long ones!

"What should we do if we step on a land mine?"

"The usual procedure is to leap straight up in the air about 300 feet, and then scatter yourself over a wide area."

:D

Black Adder is shown on BBC America. i've been told i would most definitely appreciate it (the British comedies are the only ones i'll watch) but it's not available for sale here.

So, uh... If anybody need ideas for next year's Christmas present...

:D

Exsqueeze me, gents! But I happen to be American and I adore British humor and I also happen to own every Monty Python episode...on DVD! Thank you, very much for your confidence in the American funny bone. :cool:

If I owned the rest of series, I'd want this set for the marvelously snide Blackadder's Christmas Carol.

Here's Amazon's features list for the deluxe set (US and Canada release):

DVD Features:
* Available Audio Tracks: English (Unknown Format)
* Who's Who in Blackadder
* What's What - Interactive Guide to Historical Figures and Events
* Blackadder's Christmas Carol
* Blackadder in The Cavalier Years
* Archival Richard Curtis Interview
* Blackadder Sing-Along

It depends. I'm familiar with two types of British humor.

1. Sucks:

Benny Hill

2. Brilliant:

The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin

Faulty Towers

Monty Python

To the Manner Born

Blackadder

Americans who like Type 1 and Americans who like Type 2 should not marry.

i'm unable to use amazon.com because of the resident asshole and all the shit he stirred.

Shereads, I used to think Benny Hilll sucked. Recently, my parent got some DVDs and I loved them- that old-style vaudeville humor. Suddenly I understand it.
Does this mean I've grown up, or... regressed? :rolleyes:

Luckily for us in Oz we have a subsiduary af the BBC ,....... our very own national broadcaster .......and they show most of the gems of British Comedy. Occassionally one of the commercial free to airs will pick up a series as well. For the life of me I cannot remember who had Blackadder but we got it all! :nana:
