I has a Web Comic! (Shameless Begging)

Very cool. I like the traces of green stuff around his mouth! :D

What's your tech setup like? Hardware, software, materials, etc.

The Artiste uses naught but Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. (I think he's mad, but it's what he's accustomed to). I stick to the modified version of screenplay format that many comic scripts are written in nowadays.

We use all things Google to interact -- google docs for scripts from me, then g-talk and gmail to swap files back and forth. My job is mostly to squee then make surreptitious suggestions (he does the same with my dialog and scene composition). Oh, and for fonts we use the free Blambot stuff, especially Digital Strip, my favorite. :)

For no good reason other than it's free and I already know its java script hacks, I'm using a pbwiki free website to host the thing.

As a visitor, I don't like the wiki hosting. I'm used to better ;)

Have you looked into hosting communities developed especially for comics? There are two that I know of; smackjeeves.com and comicgenesis.com and, from what I'm hearing, CG is the better community at this time.

There's drunkduck, too, and for the life of me I don't know why DeviantArt hasn't affiliated itself with a comic host. But supposedly real web-comics host themselves, or somethin'.

Good thing I know this is an imaginary webcomic. :)

Cool art √
And Cherry hasn’t showed up to trash your site √

It’s a winner!

I could help you with that...

Interesting. The art is distinct and has a consistency to it, which seems to have been an issue in the earliest efforts. I must admit, however, that the comic is decidedly not to my tastes (then again, I like The Angriest Dog in the World, so make of that what you will). Nevertheless, there is a definite style to it, both visually and in terms of writing, and some detailed background to which I am obviously not privy (which limits my ability to make specific commentary).

I do have to agree with Stella about the website itself not being quite right.

Thanx for that Blambot hookup. My new Mac is ALWAYS thirsty for free designy fonts to exploit! :D And those Wacom tablets rule. Takes a bit to master, but they're worth it.

Comicgenesis seems to have a great structure for showcasing artists, after reading through the membership guidelines. However, most of the comics there don't light up my telescreen. Drunkduck is a different story, though. Great shit on that site.

If I could find a webcomic community that does exclusively adult-themed and erotic stuff, I'd sign up with them myself.

First, the update, then I'd love to ask your advice:

It was a fresh joke when I wrote it!

Anyhow, I've only got two strips left before the artist goes on an indefinite hiatus; he's having a baby, the selfish bum. :rose:

So: Any ideas how to make the best use of my last eight panels?
