you all showed me the error of my ways, i see now that we sould still be worhsiping fire and the wheel well in to the 30th century if we hadnt of started the space programs. let me see if i get the list right, the space program is responsible for:

television
radio
clothes
houses
puters
toliets
trees
grass
internet
in short everthing that exists besides the wheel and fire.

We owe it all to the space program, if we did explore quasars, wimps, black holes, white holes, the moon, we would still be at about the level of intellegence of the cro-magnum man/woman.

thanks for the Clarification

Bobtoad777 do you have any idea how much money the good old USA spends on weapons? It runs around 270 billion a year. Any idea what the space program spends? It is a fraction. So why not go after military spending? The spin off from a space program are enormous. On a small note Americans have killed more Americans with nuclear weapons than anyone else. Why not start a crusade against nucs'. At least the space program is trying to develop international cooperation or would you prefer the Russian scientists to build bombs for shits like Saddam Hussein or Muammar al- Qaddafi. The space program is a least building and not destroying. As for injecting the funds into social programs, sure the world can use more. Just remember teaching a man to fish is better than giving a man a fish. If the world did not have to fight two senseless world wars and had put all that money into helping and teaching people instead of fighting it would be much better place. Also I'm sure your arguments would have seemed sound to the world before e=m(cc) in as at the time only 12 people in the world understood relativity (general and special). Do you understand what has developed from all that abstract science? Do you understand the cross pollination of developments in science? Even from the military world, although this is not given up for decades and often never. Case in point, the Hubble telescope; the US military sat back and watched the space scientist make numerous mistakes in the design. Yes they knew and had extensive experience with the problems.

yes but as everybody on the board says the space program is responsible for everything, if it wasnt for the space program we wouldnt be out of the stone ages, still living in the caves without nukes.

As I said I was all wrong. Everybody should worship praise and rever and give all our money to and keep nothing for ourselves and society to the space program

I think you're missing the point...

It isn't the space program per se that is responsible for all the wonderful things (and not so wonderful things as well) that we have today. It's the passion that drives it. Thousands of people will go to Vegas to take a chance, a dare, a risk for huge rewards. Those people with the passion to strap themselves to a rocket, send a tiny robot to mars, or live in space in a tin can for weeks, months, or years are what we mean when we say "the right stuff".

They follow in the footsteps of the explorers who settled new lands, the scientists who cured diseases, astronomers who took on the Catholic Church, and others who took a gamble against the status quo to change the way we live and think about ourselves.

Even very early on, we owe our fleshly passions to those cave men and women who snuck into the dark recesses of a cave to scratch porn into the rocks. Where would "Literotica" be today without those brave, unsung (but well hung...sorry...couldn't resist) heros? You may think I'm kidding about the porn on cave walls...but they are there...Italy I believe...check out Battaille for more details.

Ah...all sorts of delicious passions.

I'm sorry, I can't respond, I'm still laughing over "Euclid say that."

Some of these jokes are just for me, folks. Go about your business.

You just got flamed for an unpopular opinion. And such a manly way you took your medicine...

I haven't a clue as to what started this thread and frankly I'm not going to try to figure it out. I just had to take exception to the statement of "Everybody" on the bb saying somthing. This lot (me included) rarely 100% agrees on ANYTHING, that's why this is all so much fun.

Ok, I'll go back to my beer and IM's now.
