I got plagiarized :(

I wonder if their algorithms sort of bury the erotica? You know, like Amazon does:rolleyes:

And Lit is a pure porn site so anyone looking to read adult material will come here first. On WP they probably stumble across it by accident. But as word gets out more people will head over there to look.

I think that's what's happening. When I first looked at them wwaaaay back there was no 18+ and it was explicit sex free, pretty much. Now they're introduced a mobile app explicitly for hot stories. They're very mobile oriented too.

Stolen

I just found one of my stories copied and pasted and the person who stole it said they it was from Literotica and it is not fraud if you just copy and paste it while claiming you were the author.

The world I live in today.

Plagerized

It was on Wattpad. I did a search of the first paragraph of one of my stories and a found someone posting it in Wattpad under Sizzling7 as his. He then fessed up and said he got it from Literotica, but had over a hundred stories posted as if he wrote them.

I have noticed a lot of books on Wattpad with Literotica stories, some have mentioned the names of the original writers while the others haven't. A girl reported these stories and wrote to the Wattpad team but no action has been taken. She has even written to the people stealing the stories but they have refused to take it down, so she tried to contact the authors on Literotica, explaining that their content is being copied. Personally, I find Wattpad's layout better than Lit's, it's easier to use, and you can do a lot more like inserting videos, gifs, images in your stories, something you can't do here. But Wattpad has stories in other genres as well, erotica being one of those. So it's difficult to get views and votes on your stories, unless you start actively following members with a lot of followers and vote and comment on stories. I've been using Wattpad for more than 2 years now and the content is not moderated, anyone can post anything they want so some of the stories are not of very good quality.

I could care less if someone re posts my stories with my username giving me credit for it. I write on a free site so money is not my object. Just give the credit to the person writing the story. Wattpad is going to get slammed hard soon if they don't start moderating their site and I will cheer if they do if their users are so blatantly stealing.

I'm not completely sure about this, but I heard if your stories reach a certain amount of views and votes, you get paid for it. So, I think it's wrong that these people are making money off of someone's hard work. I typed Literotica in the search box and I found a lot of books with the name. I really hope Wattpad takes some action soon.

I've been posting stories to Literotica since July 2002 and to Yahoo Adult Groups even before then.

Fifteen years of posting my stories means that many have been stolen and reposted. Some have been taken by bots who just take the first Literotica page. Most leave 'Copyright oggbashan' on the stolen texts.

But many are not thefts at all. They are hot links back to the story on Literotica.

A few have been translated into other languages including Japanese, Czech and Polish. Some translators even asked my permission first.

I only get annoyed when someone tries to pass off my creations as theirs. If I can, I'll leave a comment and a link back to the original story on Literotica.

But I knew my stories could/would be stolen from the moment I posted my stories.

Lit works stolen and posted on Wattpad

Update: Wattpad users are still copying from Lit and posting on a large scale. I just searched for "Literotica" and got 3k hits, mostly collections of stories copied from here, without any credit to the original author.

Even one of mine was there, and the author even had to nerve to write: "This is not my work. All credits go to Literotica.com"
- but she doesn't include the names of the authors she stole it from, so what's the point then?

And she's not the only one. Every one of them contain a similar text, asking you to not report them, but that all of the stories have been copied from Lit from their favorite stories there. Gee, thanks

Still, after contacting her directly, she has removed mine, but there are still 24 other stories in her "Literotica book" - and the same applies for all the other Lit-books :(

Seems like everything is allowed over there and none of them have any knowledge of what "copyright" or "proper credit" means......
