I Don't Wanna Grow Up, I'm a Toys R Us Kid

Older men are nice too. You wouldn't want to be known as the female GuyJD of lit, would you?

Well I think the entire board is aware of my preference for older men.

But the 18 year old bucks are seemingly more battery operated. They're normally a bit more mechanical in bed. I call them jackhammer fucks. :)

And you prefer to get pounded in a mechanical, robotic, repetitive, uncreative, boring, uncaring, insensitive way that only these young studs can provide?

Tsk, tsk....

I just wanted to know how old you were when you decided on your career. Did you ever truly decide what you wanted to be when you grew up? Or, are you still looking for the ultimate career?
Ahem... back to the original question.

I picked my college major when I was a senior in high school. I didn't really "know" before that. I didn't really "know" in college! I just kept taking classes in my major as long as I enjoyed them. Before I knew it, I had a degree.

Older Men? Try as I might......cigarettes.......booze.......a hollywood drug habit......I can never be the "man" that you want to spoon with on a less than Cali temperatured night.......

oh.......BratCat where are you?!?!?!

p.s. Who knew that The Nino De Problema.......had a Problemo De Ninos?
Stay away from the day-cares, mi amigo.....

I bet you go through a lot of batteries.

I know I do.

Does that make me a toys R us kid?

Lavender.....

I have always known the direction of my seeking a career.....Nature.
But I still am tossed up.
Growing is fun so far, but hard work.
I plan on being an full fledged Urban Ecologist and on a small scale, I already am.

But, Cheyenne a degree is NOT a career. I have a degree and I'll soon have a professional degree as well. That still doesn't mean I have chosen a career.
But I went to college for an accounting degree. It never crossed my mind that I would do anything other than be a CPA in a large firm (there was still the "Big 8" way back then.) And I figured I would do that for some number of years and then would move to industry. That is what I did.

If you're asking for suggestions- I'd go with the big law firm attorney just for the "learning" value. My Big 8 background has come in handy so many times just by virtue of the wide variety of experience I got working as a CPA. Experience in a large law firm would likely help you move in any other career direction at a later point. But, ask one of the many lawyers on the board. They'd have more experience in the exact situation you're in than I do.

I'm 28 and i think i may know what i want to be when i grow up. Pitifully, it's what i wanted to be when i was about 5 too, but i lost track of the goal for awhile.

making it happen is another story entirely.

i plan to go back to school and get my wildlife biology degree and get a job with the conservation department. then, when the kids are old enough to handle a commuting mommy, i'll apply to vet school (the nearest one is 2 hours away). maybe by the time i'm 40 i'll be a vet.

though a bartender in spain sounds great too...
;)

Umm, decide? I didn't read anything in the manual about "deciding"!

My degree only taught me to think - I pursued subjects that interested me rather than one that was readily applicable to a specific job or trade.

To date I've had...let's see...4 full fledged "careers", each different, each fun in their own right.

Unless you count porn scribe - then I've had 5 :)

i still dont know what i want to do ... is work meant to be rewarding and fun ... or is it just about money ... im really not too bothered about how much i get paid i never really even bother usually to read my pay check ... i just need to find something that i'd like to do and find more rewarding then my current job

and lavender you should try 18 year old girls we're pretty good too :)

Ummm Bartender, I want one of those fancy drinks with the paper parasols. Okay? That way I can poke my own eye out with a stick... hahahaha...

Oh seriously. What and when I wanted to be when I grew up? I haven't. Okay I admit it. I let life happen while I wasn't watching. So here I am in middle age doing the same damn thing I did when I was a teen. Retail. Not saying it isn't a career. I guess after 20 years it is. But not what I wanted. Not by a long chalk.
I remember I was going to change the world. Make things happen. Make people think and do rather then sit around. And look. Great. I became what I scoffed. Time passed and things kept me, or made me think they were keeping me, from getting on with life.
But now, in my middle ages, officially and all. I am making the changes and doing. Training in a "real" field. (I know that one will get me slammed by a few people.) Loving life more and more.
A areer is about making money, or it shouldn't completely be. It should be what you want, enjoy and relish. Shrugging shoulders.
Told you I never grew up.

Man... I need a life...

I saw this thread and I got all excited because I work for Toys "R" Us.... I really need to get out more...

But as for your question, Lavy...
I'm 18, but I knew what I wanted to be when I was 14, and I'm finally starting to go for it.

I'm in my first year in college to become a High School Special Edcuation Teacher.

Agreed. Jobs are about making money. Careers should be about doing something you like and get paid for.

I was 9 years old when an uncle came for a visit. He told me he was a computer programmer, and the light bulb over my head went on. I got sidetracked along the way, but did eventually become a programmer.

I've since moved on to other areas of working with computers, but it always has been and probably always will be about making those ornery machines do what I want.
