Im baking a turkey today! mmmmm, it smells soooo good!

Last night, laying in bed, I was thinking of Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes..etc

Well, i hopped out of bed this morning and was at the store by 7:30...bought everything for a great Thanksgiving dinner, just a bit early! :D

Tell me, do you make turkey at any other time of the year?

Can I come over for dinner?

I will bring some wine :)

I think turkey is fine at any time, though it has taken on an undeniable link to Thanksgiving(my favorite holiday, still relatively unblemished by consumerism).

Consider it a test run for Thanksgiving.

Come on over! Hell, everyone come on over! I bought a 19# turkey and there are only 4 of us...and 2 of the 4 are little! What was I thinking???? I'll be turkey'd out by the time Thanksgiving gets here! :D

I love Thanksgiving as well, in my family its a big deal...the table always looks beautiful, we get all dressed up..after dinner, we gather around the fireplace at my moms, play a game and watch football!

Dinner @ estevies house(still laughing at 19# turkey, you are crazy) tonight...then bratcats tomorrow....i am gonna put some serious weight on.

:p

cat, please tell me you were kidding about the football thing???

How can you not like football?? you poor poor girl! ;)

Ok, now I need some ideas for leftover turkey...always thinking ahead

Don't laugh at me, modest mouse, or I'll make you stay here and eat the leftovers with us for the next...ermm, month! :D :p

You cant make me stay :p

hot turkey sandwiches
turkey stew with dumplings(or biscuits)

Slice the leftovers and freeze them in small packages so you can thaw out a Turkey sandwich when you get the urge.

I don't have a dog but I've got a real big mean fish, think that will work? :D

Thats a great idea, Weird Harold! I love leftover turkey on wonder bread with mayo and lettuce...and yes, it has to be wonder bread!

stuffing and turkey sandwiches are nice too ... and turkey pie yum ... turkey curry ... can have cold turkey for dinner with hot gravy over top suitee potatoes yum :)

when we have turkey for christmas we end up eating it for about a week we dont bother freezing it because it keeps in the fridge long enough

Cool Fish

He/She certainly looks capable of putting away some turkey. A coworker gave me an aquarium this summer but I have yet to clean it up and get some fish. I had fish as a kid and thought they were soothing.

That tank is hubbys pride and joy. I think its a pain in the ass. Its too big, 55gal and he doesn't clean it enough to suit me. The fish are great though, there are 2 silver dollars, 3 baby oscars that we just got, 1 large algea eater, or suckerfish, 1 extra large African chiclid of some sort, we don't know exactly (thats the pic). There is a few minnows swiming in there right now, but won't be for long :D and there is even a crawdad that my 3yo found in the creek!

They are neat to watch, after a while of having them, you learn their habits. I know that when I get up in the morning, they will be buzzing around the tank...they know its breakfast time!!!!

thanksgiving without football! unheard of here!!!!

Amen to that fellow Michigander! (and isn't it nice being past the black-out line for the Lions .. well, not necessarily this year ...)

estevie,

Your dinner sounds wonderfully scrumptious. Yes, I do have turkey several times a year. I love the scent as its baking in the oven. It always reminds me of being with my family at Thanksgiving.

I do what Weird Harold does, too. I freeze some of the leftovers in plastic food bags and when I get the urge to have turkey at another time, I just pull the bag from the freezer and it's "heaven" all over again. lol

One of the ways I like to use the leftovers is to buy those soft taco shells and cut the turkey into small pieces. Then I mix together a combination of chopped black olives, tomatoes, some scallion, some green pepper and put that on top of the turkey that I have in the soft taco shell. Then I sprinkle some shredded chedder or any cheese you'd like on top of that. It's quite delicious.

Enjoy your wonderful meal. I can almost taste it now. lol

Im off to eat my turkey! i have sooooo much food, omg...what was I thinking! lol

yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!

I only cook a whole turkey at Thanksgiving with all the trimmings, but several times a year I cook a turkey breast. I make turkey salad with leftovers. I make mine with raisins, walnuts, diced celery & mayo. It's really yummy on sandwiches or served on a bed of lettuce with tomato slices. This is making me hungry for turkey, how long until Thanksgiving? :) :)

*barely moving*

omg...i ate wayyy too much! mmmm, but it was sooo yummy! :D

PowerOfOne, be on the lookout for a really big box! :)
