Ooooo! If the dude from the National Laboratory of Bad Government (aka Texas) becomes President, then I will use all that tax break money to go on a nice long cruise!

He did promise us a big tax break, didn't he? Didn't he? Aren't you anxious? What will you do with all of that wonderful tax-break money?

God Bless the Land of The Truck-Driving-Catfish-Eaters!
Long Live the Land of the Gun-Toting-Sleeping-Defense-Attorneys-During-Capital-Punishment cases!

I want my tax break! :) I my tax break just like the puppet said! :)

My $600.00 is going straight into the market. I hope I get it soon, before the market really takes off again. I want to buy low sell high.

For you wibawas, that does not mean you buy when you are low and then you get high...

I only get $300 back. But the decrease in the tax rate will add to that number by quite a bit.

Bump. Haven't heard from Riff yet... no post card from his cruise or anything! ;)

This tax rebate thing pisses me off

We got back $67. Yup SIXTY-SEVEN FREAKING DOLLARS!

In addition to what is withheld from our paychecks, we pay about $7000 to uncle sam every year. Yes folks, that means that on April 15th, we mail off a check for about 1/3 of what I make in a year and that's AFTER they've raided our paychecks every week.

I know people who get nice, big, fat refund checks every year... $2000 plus. And they got back between $500 and $600.

How does this make sense? How is it that we pay so damned much and get nothing back, while people who get refunds all the time get the rebates?

*sigh*

Your rebate amount has nothing at all to do with a refund amount. Refunds have to do with how much you had overwithheld from your checks during the year (generally.) It means you didn't plan well at all, and let Uncle Sam use your money for free all year. Refunds are YOUR money to begin with. Refunds are bad (if you have any money management skill at all, that is.)

Your rebate has to do with the amount of taxes you pay. All those people who got larger rebates than you PAY more than you, too.

Your math above doesn't make any sense. What you typed also doesn't agree with the calculation of the tax rebates. Read about them here:

http://www.taxplanet.com/newtaxlaws/newlaws2001/rebate01/rebate01.html

If you were single and earned at least $6,000 last year, you'd get the $300. If married and earned at least $12,000 you'd get the $600. UNLESS there were other circumstances such as unpaid child support, back taxes, etc.
