It's neither a super tree trunk, nor anything to do with the clay sometimes called bole. I must learn to recognize it more quickly or risk being drubbed out and ostracized for being too literal at a literary site.

I was confused by this too, but maybe it was that "use of purple" line?

ssk, when I took up my quest I swore to seek the ultimate example of hyperbole to bring back to the teeming masses here. It may take forever and a day, but absolutely no one else is any better suited to this unprecedented untertaking than yours truly.
