well it hasn't made it's way up here yet, but they're saying it'll still be a category 1 when it gets up to dallas. you'd think, as big as texas is, it'd be worn out by the time it has made its way up here! I really hope all our houston litsters are doing okay.

It seems there are a few who are not evacuating also. Pretty scary.
The backups are unreal at this point also.

My company has quite a few employees in Texas, including Port Arthur, Baytown, etc. The offices are closed now and we're hoping for the best. I'm more worried about the employees and their homes. We had missing employees after Katrina. It's frustrating not to be able to find out who is okay (and who isn't) quickly.

I tried to call my rep in Houston last night on his cell phone, just got a recording saying that due to the hurricane in the area my call could not be completed. Seemed weird, but I imagine cell traffic is very high.

I just spoke to my ex and in-laws and they are just now on the outskirts of the city past Katy after leaving yesterday at 4am. They said they don't think they will be in Austin until at least midnight.

Looks like we (areas west of Dallas) lucked out with Rita hooking as far east as she has, forcasters now say all we are going to get here is a little rain. The treat of flooding and tornados for us is slim to nil now...which of course is fine by me!
