Hi there,
I've commented on this story briefly elsewhere, but there's certainly more to be said--and now, here's my chance!
From the first line, the gorgeous prose, the sensuous atmosphere and melancholy mood drew me in. And they kept me utterly immersed in what I feared might be a banal tale of a sexual hunt and conquest in the setting of the glitzy meat market. Being one for high-stakes emotional and psychological tension, the usual hook-up story is usually a no-go for me, but your lyrical prose and the undercurrent of raw emotion kept me going, and I was rewarded with a far more complex and intriguing story than I'd been expecting.
Not only is this one of my top two or three picks from the contest, but it's one of the best stories I've read in a long time.
