I have been monitering a lot of chat beetween the Americans and have after about 4 weeks on variouse bb and chat rooms have come to the conclusion that the yanks are a bunch of stuck up arseholes with no sence of humor...I mean can they actualy be sarcastic??? I doubt it... for instance some guy was having a joke about penis size and the size of televisions and this yank did not get the joke and replyed my tv is 33",,,we were having a joke about the size of our dicks for fucks sake,,,what a fucking sad prick

Mayhap he had a 33 cm shlong and you just didn't get his joke?
You're right though, Americans have no sense of humor, what we all need is a taste of your Good Humor bar. Ohhh baby, I could go for one of those right now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :cool: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tell me. Could you hear the sarcasm in that last bit?
I am just so bad at this.
WOW..... You observed the americans for a whole four weeks and can make a statement like that? Your intelligence is something to stand in awe of. What insight of the world you have. I bow to your superior knowledge of the world.
Ummmm, Americans can't be sarcastic? Have you met Lasher yet? Or Siren? Or Deborah? Or me???
What bulletin boards were you lurking in, the 700 Club?
Wait, I know the problem. You must be a wrestling fan!!! Were you in a wrestling bb? Those people don't know fact from fiction in the first place.
So in your wise wisdom who has the humor then. I find almost everyone has a sence of humor on this board. American or not.
Hey Davey............
:p
Siren,
That's not nice. Just for the record not all us Brit's think the americans have no sense of humour. Just a different one.
We can't be all that bad judging by the amount of Americans that I know that adore Monty Python-))
always look on the bright side of life-)
Jenne
I am not known for my wit or intelligence, nor my ability to use the english language
I have absolutely no sense of humor. It simply wasn't issued at Boot Camp. I do understand that once you acheive General (Always remember to sing Be My Little General to get the ranking correctly!) you may requisition one. But you must have an absolute minimum of three stars (Little!!) to receive a scintillating sense of humor. Upon occassion, it has been noted in the annals of history that certain factions have illegally apropriated a sense of humor bound for some General's cocktail party for their own dubious purposes. They have, of course, been properly punished to the absolute fullest extent of the UCMJ. Article 125 is my favorite. Don't you just adore it?
Ahh, for those of you not in the know, Be My Little General is a mnemonic aid for those of us who don't care to tattoo it on our foreheads to recall this important information.
Be = Brigadier General
My = Major General
Little = Lieutenant General
General = General
All four precious stars all wrapped up in a neat little package with Ronnie Specter's voice.
I've adored the British sense of humor for ages, after all, they did bring us Wham, and more recently the Spice Girls. Their popularity is proof positive that they ever so much better at breeding successful comedians across the Pond.
Muffy loves ya babe, lets 125.
Jenni, thats a bit hippocritical. You totally agree that americans have no sense of humor, because three people say it, but when someone says that the brit's have no sense of humor you think it is totally wrong?
Monty {Python are some of the best movie and how I have een in a while, but even they make me want to turn the channel ometime, they leave jokes on too long, they totally forget the rule of three. They believe, like saturday night live, that the situation is more funny than the dialogue.
American humor is more like potty humor, I admit, but if I were to watch an hour of american tv, then an hour of british tv, I know which one I would laugh at more.
AMERICA
Excuse me here but how can I be accused of being hypocritical (note spelling) When all I did was point out that American humor just differs from the British one.
I never said I thought any one was wrong. Might I respectfully suggest you look up the word hypocritical in the dictonary before using it again-)
I enjoy Friends, Darma and Greg and quite a few of the American sit coms that have made it over the Atlantic. I also enjoy the comedy club but I equally enjoy our humour Black adder, monty and so many more that I could mention but won't.
It's all subjective isn't it? What will make one person roll on the floor in hysterics might make another person cringe.
I'm comming to live in the states next month so I'll reserve judgement until then as to wether my wacky Brit brand of humour is to much for the average American-)
Hope that answers your question my friend,
regards,
Jenne
Just for the record, I HATE Monty Python.
Jenne64, When you get to our side of the pond give a shout, we colonials will do our best to make you welcome. No guarentees on the humor tho. What part of the US?
How I LOVE Blackadder. So to show you Brits just how funny I think you are, here is a selection of some of my favorite quotes:
"My life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own Satanic herd." BA2
Broderick: What if we run into a mine?
Blackadder: Well, Baldrick, standard procedure is to fly two hundred yards straight up and scatter yourself over as wide an area as possible. BA4
"Believe me,Baldric, an eternity in the company of Beelzebub and all his hellish minions will be as nothing compared to five minutes alone with me... and this pencil." BA3
"Baldric, you wouldn't recognize a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on a harpsicord singing subtle plans are here again." BA Christmas Special
I won't even start on Monty Python....
can't we all just get along?
arguing matters of opinion and creating generalities and charachter judgements in the interoom is a waste of time that could be spent on much more uplifting conversation.
sorry. just had to get that out. i'm gonna go be happy somewhere now. :)
I agree. Everyone has there own sense of humor. Some like this some like that. If everyone liked the same would it not be a dull world?
Jenni dont jump to conclusions here
:p
Siren,
My apologises. Ummm that feels better-)) Not as good as a body ripping orgasm but it will suffice for now! Your right I should have kept my mouth shut but you know us Brit's jump in head first and then apologise later-)
Nogard I'm comming to live in New Hampshire and can't wait to get there! Yes I'm leaving old england to travel to New England and boy does it get confusing when you tell people here.
I'm going to Dover, you know near Manchester.
Dover isn't anywhere near Manchester.
No Dover Usa.
Oh I didn't know there was one. So your going to the USA and not staying in the UK?
Yeah.
So where abouts is Dover?
and it goes on and on and on....
I had a conversation like that a few days ago.
I'm sure that I'll be madevery welcome when I get there.
I'm a nice person, really I am-))
Jenne
What's all this about British vs. US humour.
Man, haven't we all been through this so many times it's nausiating.
Hmfr......Why don't you all just blow me!! :p
Cheri I adore Black Adder. Had forgotten about that scene and burst out laughing when I read it.
Dave I love British humor. It is a pitty you dont have a "sense" of it.
Expertise (from the other branch of the "colonial" family)
PS to Xander.
Searching for oral gratification? Has she cut you off in anticipation of the big day? tee hee hee;)
Oh how we all laughed that day...
Its quite simple - In ANY country the population is made up of a large percentage of idiots. Humans in general are not the brightest of creatures.
America though is an insanely large country which means that there is an insane amount of american idiots in the world. So you see it really isn't their fault.
We've mentioned british comedies but how about US ones. My favorites include:
Seinfield
The Larry Sanders Show
Frasier
Bill Hicks
...
Um struggling here but I'm sure there are more.
Fortunately, being a large country means they have a large minority of bright intelligent and witty people too.
(Why the fuck am I defending the US. I hate the US goddamit!!)
P.S. Yes I did have a lovely holiday thank you and I now have a beautiful golden tan *laughs smugly*
Don't forget the Simpsons.
What? Me sarcastic? Never.
Flagg your back!
At the risk of incurring the wrath of Deborah. Welcome back. I missed ya', ya' little fucker.
In reference to my post above I actually imagine you as a version of Blackadder, not estheticly but personality wise. No insult intended.
ARSEHOLES?
Hey buddy. Those are fightin' words. I have been called a lot of things, including asshole, but never ARSEHOLE.
I'm in conference with my advisors to determine whether or not I should be pissed off at you.
