IRS apologizes for ‘Star Trek’ training video

The videos had come under criticism from Rep. Charles Boustany Jr. (R-LA), who demanded copies of the videos, which the IRS said were produced for use in 2010 and 2011. Boustany, the leader of the House Ways and Means subcommittee on Oversight, demanded the agency hand over copies of the videos as well as a “full accounting” of the costs involved.

However, investigators later determined that the Gilligan’s Island-themed skit was “a legitimate training video.”

But that's not the fun part.

The agency said in its statement that it was implementing tighter standards for the use of its equipment to make sure future videos use public funding more efficiently “while ensuring a tone and theme appropriate for the nation’s tax system.”

I vote that they do a video with a smiling IRS agent, who requests, Ms. Boobies Shakewell can clear her tax liability if she strips and allow him to probe for hidden resources.

"As he pulled the rubber glove on his hand he smiled and said, "I'm so glad Congress simplified the tax code." He paused and the glove snapped, making Boobie shiver.

As she pulled down her panties, she tried to smile, but she had a bad feeling that he was going to be thorough. She was sure that her all her assets were in danger."

The Star Trek video in question is available on YouTube and is actually quite brilliant! Almost worth $60,000 of the taxpayers' money... almost.

In response to the broad concept of humility in government, there are exceptions of course, but for the most part humble civil servants get passed over for promotion in favor of the "yes" men and humble politicians tend to lose one too many elections or quit in frustration.

I agree, but I just wanted to put up the story fragment.

You really shouldn't take me too seriously. :)

Geeks not too keen on basketball can have their own March Madness
thank to Hulu, which is offering the entire Star Trek series free of charge for the rest of the month.

Just passing it along.
