How'd you pick your user name?

To the 4 backsides on previous page: smack, SMACK, smack, smack.

It was a very personal matter, a matter of inspiration and desperation, soaked in angst, redolent of wizardry. IOW I plagiarized.

I didn't know what my username really meant when I created it; that has only become apparent in recent years.

When I filled out my Lit profile for the first time, I wanted a name that would be more descriptive than "Mike5261" (as distinct from that utter reprobate, Mike5260 ;)). I wasn't seeking physical liaisons, so I chose the word "mind" to reflect my interest in the mental domain. I considered an active description such as "explorer", but all of my ideas seemed dull. Then I remembered the name of a character from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that makes me chuckle: a philosopher called Vroomfondel. This was my inspiration for Mindfondler, and i adopted that username with little further thought.

More recently, as I've explored BDSM and become active in the scene, I've realised that my username is even more appropriate than I realised. Although I enjoy physical play, my real kinks lie in the mental and emotional domains: establishing strong connections with submissive partners and playing consensually with their minds. My preferred role is more active than just an explorer or a top — I want to dig deeply, interact and, in a benevolent way, leave my own "marks" as a dominant (i.e. from my fondling of their minds).

I'm not new to Lit but pretty new to the PG.

In an effort to get to know you guys, I'm curious how you decided on your user name?

:cattail:

Hi cookie! 🙋

Wild Honey was the scent of my body lotion! And it felt like it was a good fit for me. :)

I have always thought your user name was quite apropos. ;)

Used to be a strip club called The Rocket and well....the rest is self explanatory :)

I think I need an explanation!!

It’s the one thing I miss the most; giving and receiving tender kisses. Just to be kissed again.

Awww!! It's true! I hope you get your kiss!!

I am happiest at the beach. I was born to be there. And the 179 has significance to me. It's not random.

Will you ever tell us why 179? I love being near, in, on the water! Are you lucky enough to be near a beach??

Hey Cookie! Just noticed this! <snip>

But those of us who have experienced the great lakes know that we can handle anything. So...I chose "Lake Sailer" (in part the misspelling was an accident...I'm a lousy spell, but I kind of liked it...). I chose it to say, "this is me. This is who I am. "

Hi Lake Sailer. Thanks for the invite back to the Cove!!

I just said this to beachbaby, but being on the water is fantastic. The fact you can handle a boat out there is pretty cool.

Yeah, ya are.

Blahahaha!!! That is still around?

Hi, Cookie, welcome to the PG!!!

My name... oh, goodness. It really has nothing to do with any fetish (sorry guys).

I'm always barefoot, and someone in OZ that I knew from online Scrabble (and was rp'ing with) called me his bare foot, bare assed girl. I was separated and needed a new email, so I made up barefoot.girl... and carried it over here when I signed up 8 months later.

Since I wasn't the only barefootgirl, I needed a number and chose 69 because of it's significance to give and take, the way I think relationships should be.

Sometimes I overthink things.

I grew up on an island. I’m not there now. I miss it BIG TIME!

Has he made you watch Evil Dead II ‘yet’?

Well hello!!

Years ago when there was AOL I had a screen name for Spenser41. It was based on the old TV show and the books by Robert B Parker. 41 was my age. This has been a very old screen name since I’m 63 now.

22 years of interweb fun!!

My has double meanings...

LA because that's where home will always be for me AND it's my first and middle initial (I know people think my name is Candy in real life but it's not :) ).

Candy because my maiden name sort of has the word in it...and well because I'm sweet (and may have a bit of an oral fixation ;) )

No!! An oral fixation!? No way. :cattail:

It seemed to fit. :) Plus Tinks was my nickname for years. #shortgirlproblems

Its cute!!

Purple veined bang stick was already taken!

I'm always a little amused by screen names like girthymanmeat4u or pinktacokitty69 (which saw real). Every so often I get a PM that says "wanna see my 9" purple veined bang stick" and I have to reply, no, no... I'm more into 5" turkey drumsticks.

Vibes is what I aim to convey ... positive ones, that is ... AND it is also how a gorgeous lady friend and I used to name a certain game between us, involving a mobile phone and a number of calls ...

You have an enduring AV. Good vibes > bad, for sure!! I hope she had a screen protector.

I have one name that I use at virtually every login on the interwebs. Which I didn't want to use here.

The number, 82, is just what I use for differentiation.

But I happened to have a history book open on my desk when I was signing up. And the name of a Persian king which amused me because of the two x's seemed the way to go at the time.

Years ago, I ran a chat room under a different name. Did not want to use that name because that room was for a totally different subject. I had a magazine on my desk. Jada Pinkett Smith was on the cover. She was pregnant. I was pregnant. And two of the initials of my real name are J.D. So the name seemed fitting. I added the 59 because it is my birth year.

Many years ago, I created a character for a superhero RPG for an ex of mine. Her nickname at work was "Monkey", and the RPG character became Simian. In comics, when a character turns evil, they are usually called "Dark Whatever". After we broke up, the character became "Dark Simian". I then changed the gender, and claimed it for myself. When I came to Lit, I knew I need something unique, and so I dusted off DarkSimian.

There is an origin story for "Simian" floating around here somewhere....

Once upon a time it was meant to be ironic. Or something.
These days I'm a closet optimist. I almost changed it about a week ago.

Did anyone ask you your own question back yet? Curious minds and all that... :)
