hey I'm trying to use my picture as my avatar, but it says upload failed. It meets the specified dimension and size specifications. It's in jpg format what else might I be doing wrong?

-thanks for your help, Luke

I think you have to have one hundred posts before it will let you post an avatar.

oh gotcha ya I was wondering why everyone doesn't have one up! thanks for your help :)

And beautiful pictures by the way you are very sexy :) See how I got TWO posts in there instead of one? see? see? hahaha

Thank you - and now for the shameless plug - I too have a thread...:D

Oh - and I am working for 1000 posts so I can change the byline in my profile - the one below your screen name. :)

ya I know I saw it and enjoyed a few of the pictures with my fingers ;)

lit has size restrictions

you Av has to be (i believe) 100 x 100 size wise. if you have your own pic... just resize it to litter av standards.... you can download any number of Free pic editing software... Its a pain in the arse....but you have too suffer some pain once in a while

For all of the newbies and oldies who haven't checked out our FAQ thread just yet, it's well worth a look right now so you'll know where to find answers to questions like these in a snap. It even has detailed instructions on how you can search the forums and site (like stories) effectively, so you can quickly find stuff that's not covered in the FAQ or other stickies.

Nope, it's 150 pixels as the largest dimension AND (IIRC) 15kb or smaller file-size wise.

If you don't already have it, GIMP is the best free image editing software out there, IMO. It's like a free version of Photoshop, so there's a learning curve, but simple tasks like resizing are fairly easy and there are extensive tutorials that just about anyone can follow online if you just google what you'd like to do in GIMP (e.g. 'resizing images in GIMP tutorial').

Make sure any AV or other image you post complies with Lit's general and specific image-posting rules.

And tasteful/classy images that are visually appealing and interesting and leave something to the imagination are usually far more appreciated and recognized than gratuitous porn or genital shots. If a guy is trying to appeal to the opposite sex, for instance, he's probably going to get far more compliments on a face, torso or covered ass (or junk) AV than a blatant cock shot. Most women don't care to see random genitals at all; you'll notice that the posters who are most popular with the ladies typically don't have their bits laid out in their avatars or sigs. Apart from good face shots, some of the better male AVs I've seen have been guys in jeans (sometimes slightly unzipped/unbuttoned, so as just to suggest, rather than show, their junk), covered/occluded asses, a towel around the waist in the bathroom, a full body behind steamy glass shower doors, a shower curtain covering the genitals and boxer briefs on a nice body. Think suggestive 'erotic' rather than 'pornographic' images if you're trying to appeal to the ladies, and be creative! Remember that people browse Lit at work and in public sometimes, so it's nice to keep it tasteful for them as well.

I have well over one hundred posts, and my avatar still has not appeared yet. What gives?

Clear your cache and cookies and see what happens. If it still doesn't work, does the image fit the site requirements?

You have a very nice profile picture. That is NOT the same as an avatar. You need to upload a (smaller) picture as an avatar.
