I am using my laptop to post this because I have no other choice.

I decided that I needed more user names on my desktop (XP PRO)

So I created a couple of user names with administrator rights.

When I restarted my computer the original account vanished. When I could breath again and calmed down I decided to restore and go back to the original User name account.

No Joy. Restore said no changes made. After several attempts I gave up.

I found a folder with my desktop Icons and shortcuts in it,so I coped and pasted them to my FGB User name Desktop.

Whew! close one I said.

I just realized that the pointer goes into the dialog box and I can click on icons and they will appear but no cursor.

Then I tried to Login to Lit.

No cursor appears in the password box.

No problem I let Roboform login for me.

Then I tried to post a reply...No cursor in the reply box .. I am screwed.

Can anyone help me?

yep - I had problems with disappearing profiles on XP. Temp ones were being created on boot. I read up on what to do but ultimately you will be much better saving off all your data - locate and save your email pst files - all your favourites and browser bookmarks... if you store social chat conversations MSN, Yahoo, Skype etc hunt those down as well. Reformat - reinstall. Half measures in repairing end up being monumentally more time consuming than just biting the bullet and going for a clean install.

If you hunt around you can find programs that will scour your system for existing serials and activation codes if you have not kept them.

...now just watch this thread grow - I predict five pages
